The phone clicks against the dirt, thick as it sounds and scuffles right under her car. Commercial girls prefer red, but Bela a working gloss as her teeth cross over her lip. She’s wary, for territory, and watches his fingers curl as his eyes keep singing for snapping: your neck.
She feeds deflection, “All talk, yeah?”
Gordon doesn’t laugh, but there are teeth. For the legends, they say. The firm press of his thumb drawls over her throat and she shivers, the vomit curling. She’s not afraid. Not afraid.
“If you-”
Her eyes are hard. And he laughs, “good girl.”
