One of my favorite authors, Michelle Moran, recently posted a book trailer for her current project, Cleopatra's Daughter, due to be released in September 2009.  I'm very excited about this book because I loved Nefertiti and The Heretic's Daughter, her previous novels!  I must confess, though, I'm not sure I "get" the idea of book trailers.  Some, ( Read more... )

Wow - thank you for posting this! I have to agree with you about the uncertainty of book trailers and where there place is in the realm of publicizing fiction. I think the effectiveness of a trailer depends entirely on what an author does with it.

In my case - I gave it to my foreign rights agent who will show it to other agents buying for foreign countries. The foreign agents may not speak English well, but they can understand images. My publishing house will also use it to show book buyers. Many times, book buyers are given a list of books and they have to choose which ones they want to stock based on a pitch as short as 60 seconds. A video *should* help them remember the title. ;]

I've never seen book trailers before. The idea seems a little weird to me, maybe because I'm not used to it, but Michelle's comment about the reason for a trailer. makes sense. It's definitely interesting how books are becoming more multimedia.

I am really looking forward to this book too. However, I don't really care for Book Trailers and this one is no exception. It looked like the beginning of a cheesy commercial to me. LOL!

I clearly really need to. The trailer doesn't do anything for me (I way prefer the trailers over at VidLit), but I keep seeing such great reviews of her books!
