Sort of appropriate really

These days, I've been working for a company as a light tech. It's a dirty rather unforgiving job, which leaves me with no end of minor wounds, but....I do work with friends, which makes the days fairly pleasant. I work 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts with a fair amount of overtime. The money is so so, I could stand to make a bit more, which is what I'm getting to.

The psychologists I'm staying with till the end of the week have stumbled across a notion of brilliance. You see, they both work for pre-trial centers. Putting people on suicide watch or what have you. Geoff also works doing clinical therapy both for local clients and for Riverview (the local looney bin). Anyway....Germana thought I'd make a swell corrections officer. This actually appeals to me. I had looked into working as a fireman recently, but it didn't seem to be something I really wanted to do.

Policing is out of the question for a variety of reasons, but as a corrections officer, I wouldn't have to lie, would work shifts like a fireman (ie 3 days on, 3-4 days off), make heaps of money (a startling amount really, more than double what I earn currently), and on occasion I could wear hard body armor (yay! it gives me such wood to even consider it). In fact I could eventually apply for the special intervention unit.

The other beautiful thing is, I could continue going to school while I work, without taking out loans....which I hate. I'll borrow money to buy a house one day, but beyond that, screw debt. I have to complete a few courses online, but other than that, I am told I am a shoe in. My stature and build command a fair level of respect, and due to my past, I think I'd get on fairly well with inmates, and hopefully end up in a pre-trial facility versus the federal facilities (way way safer).

Wearing turtle riot gear and donning a gas mask would be one of the things in life I want to do...and if I made 60-70k that wouldn't be so bad either, all the while finishing my degree and pursuing a doctorate....sounds swell to me.
