#220 I want a tarantula. No joke.
Nameless turtle no longer nameless!
Turtle's name is Yertle! (Thank you, Dr. Seuss!) There were a few names I was throwing around in my brain, but this morning when I woke up, 'Yertle' was the only one that I remembered from my list :D
So work was OK. Right now is exam time, so I've been invigilating a few classes. Wow, it's weird to be on the other side. Walking around the class while the kids (Year 9 students) are having exams while trying to look important and pretending that I know what I'm doing is actually rather dull, especially since I have to do it for 2 hours straight. But it's not too bad. On my free time, I bother my colleagues and talk. So far, Wayne is really nice and he's interesting to talk to. We share the same passion for the Beatles and David Bowie, yay! Today he lent me 2 Paul Simon CDs and I lent him my 'I Met The Walrus' (a rather lovely tribute to John Lennon, can't recall the author's name) book.
Wednesday I joined another colleague's class. Joanna is amazing. She's a Kiwi (i.e. New Zealander and so is Wayne actually hmmm) and I enjoyed her classes! She's teaching a few Year 7 classes, which is what I'll do next year apparently. She gave me some valuable tips, as well as explained her actions and her systems during and after each class. I think I will join one of her classes again soon. The students were cute, small and so well-behaved. (With the exceptions of a few, students are generally well-behaved - Maktab Sains PSBS is considered the most elite secondary school in the country after all, which is bad news for me, as parents have very, very high expectations eeep).
