I really just don't get why the defenders of the screwed-up female worgen model are so rabid.  And it's not even just on the Awful Forums, either.  Some people-one of them a mod-started insulting and strawmanning me at TVTropesYes, the mod in question has a sore spot about "furries."  But considering how the revamped model looks (Disney cartoon dog ( Read more... )

*shrug* I admit, I don't hate the model, and I will have a female worgen, but that's because I like the race and I'm nuts about anything dog related-- not in the sexualized furry way but in the "yay goggie!" way. That said, my female Worgen (Emeli- because I wanted something that a Gilnean woman would be named BEFORE being a Worgen) will not look anything like the model in my head and in any art I may get for her- the model is just, in a way, a place holder for what the character really looks like to me. (something more similar to altanachan's second sketch hereI think, if I were to ever get defensive, it's because I personally want to, and plan to play a female worgen, and I know the model isn't ideal, but I still plan to make one. That said, I'm disappointed, but I don't think it's sexism on Blizzard's part. I'm not sure what it is, really. Maybe they feel like there's too many things to balance, between appealing to all the fans, because some do want the sexualized furry ick, and some want ferocious, and they TRIED to marry the two and ( ... )

I don't think it's sexism on Blizzard's part (although some of the comments that fans were making in its defense were kind of creepily sexist).  The model just seems incongruously designed and stylistically off above the neck.  And, from what I saw in the beta, customization is going to be really limited.

I may sit on Tyn's placeholder for a few months to see if I ever get used to it enough to continue playing one.  But...yeah, it's an awkward mash-up of furry pin-up and snarling hellhound that manages to come off more like Wile E. Coyote's citified sister than either of the above.

I wasn't impressed with their customization in the beta.  All of the faces were a bit too similar.

I'm closer to "enraged" (well, I'm exasperated, anyway), at the white-knighting fans getting butt-hurt over criticisms.  Because they always pull the subjectivity card, then act like they're personally offended by the fact that my opinion differs from theirs.

And oh, damn, female trolls.  Trolls are awesome, really.  But...no eyelids.

Goblins rock my socks.  Tell me that you wouldn't, to your likely eventual detriment, trust this face.

I have no strong opinion on "furries" as a whole.  I like some of what might be called "furry art," but some of the fetish stuff kind of squicks me.

What I really don't get, however, is when someone is freaking out about "furries," then proceeds to declare these faces "too sexy," fit only for cyberers, and so on.  As far as I'm concerned, those are fuzzy werewolf snoots, not fetish fuel.
