Rambling...

I heard a rumor today that certain Internet providers are talking about restricting their service:  Accessing non-commercial sites would incur additional fees.  When this was brought up, someone commented that such a policy would result in said companies "either killing the Internet, or killing themselves."  I'm inclined to agree.

See, the whole thing with Juno is that... from what I understand it took a realistic look at teen pregnancy. She doesn't keep the baby, which is part of the whole plot. I haven't seen it, but if anything it reminds me more of Saved! than Knocked Up.

Children as accessories-scary.

I have been saying for a while that Angelina Jolie treats children the way Paris Hilton treats her dogs- like accessories to carry around, not actual people. I kind of despise that woman. And the way Jennifer Aniston is villianized for not wanting to have children. Like that really means you should be cheated on.

I hate the world, sometimes. I know I hate Hollywood and celebrities all of the time. They treat everything from parenthood to charity like... a trend. All that matters is how good they look while doing it, how cute their children are, how bizzare their names, because they do it for attention. Not because they care about this small child, or about the starving children of Africa (and being Latin American, this bothers me too. Why is everyone focusing on Africa, when Asia and Latin America and India are JUST AS FUCKED? I guess they don't wanna take Nike on. Huh. ::twitch::) but because it makes them look good.

I haven't seen either film (Juno from lack of opportunity, Knocked Up from lack of interest), but I have seen Saved! (in fact, I have a copy, and I've watched it more than once).  The reason that I mentioned Juno was that people were pointing fingers and saying "See?  Movies like this are to blame for these girls running out and deliberately getting pregnant!"  I'm surprised they didn't blame Saved! while they were at it:  If I recall correctly, the implication was that the mother, the father, and their respective boyfriends were going to all help raise the baby.  But as the film is a few years old, it had probably fallen off the social critics' radar.

As for Angelina Jolie?  I thought that she actually had principles...until she let Brad Pitt (whom I've never liked; he's overrated and seems phony) knock her up before his divorce was final.  This is a woman who once swore that she'd never have biological kids because there were too many kids out there without proper homes.  Seriously.

Now, it seems like she's popping out babies as a publicity stunt...and adopting more kids, so that people will still think that she's oh-so-noble, even after she violated her own stated principles.  (As for her alleged "supermom" status...it's easy to be a "supermom" when you're filthy rich.)

Yeah...I spend much of my time being disgusted with humanity.  (Hence my previous refusal to call Michelle Duggar a human barn cat.)
