Rambling...

I heard a rumor today that certain Internet providers are talking about restricting their service:  Accessing non-commercial sites would incur additional fees.  When this was brought up, someone commented that such a policy would result in said companies "either killing the Internet, or killing themselves."  I'm inclined to agree.

The Massachusetts pregnancy pact:  WTF?  What in the world are these kids (and I do mean kids) thinking?  Any teenager who even considers going out and getting knocked up...really needs an introduction to this site.  Or better yet, compulsory babysitting sessions.  With real babies.

It's rarely a good idea to blame the media, and I'd never go so far as to suggest that films like Juno and Knocked Up are to blame (although I've heard there were some rather vile messages in that latter film).  But I do wonder if all these celebrity pregnancies and births have anything to do with it.  Not too long ago, I saw a headline stating that "baby bumps" are "trendy."  Children as accessories-scary.

Don't get me wrong:  I like Scott Kurtz's new webcomic Ding!. But I can only conclude that the guy has never actually played Alliance.  Admittedly, the comic is supposed to be exaggerated.  And Teldrassil does make for some quick leveling.  But that's due to the sheer number of quests, not because Alliance is "easy-mode."  (Eversong Woods-a Horde starting zone, out-of-place as blood elves may be-is, if anything, even quicker than Teldrassil.)

Right now, I'm struggling to level a troll mage.  But the reason that I'm struggling isn't because it's actually a challenge:  It's because Durotar and the Barrens are monumentally boring.  I'm actually dealing with the same level of ennui on my draenei priest...because I'm sufficiently sick of Bloodmyst Isle to nickname it "won't-B-myst."

My thoughts?  The guy's a veteran Horde player.  (Although, if his comic has any truth to it, he does play blood elves, which makes it iffy:  IMHO, the only excuse for blood elves is Horde paladins.)  I could start ranting about the crap that Horde faction snobs talk about those of us who play Alliance...but I won't.  Instead...I'll just say that as a veteran Horde player, he's got no vested interest in challenging stereotypes, or even so much as not deliberately reinforcing them.  So...much as I like the comic, I encourage everyone to take it with a grain of salt.
