The city was mostly sleeping as the sun rose. Little did anyone know, that some kind of change had occurred, which would lead to the strange, horrible, events which would occur during the day, and that night.
It certainly didn’t occur to Flora Feilding. But it suddenly did. She bolted awake, the nightmare still fresh in her mind. It wasn't entirely surprising, she had had similar experiences before, but it still wasn't very pleasant. Not at all. After turning on the lamp, she grabbed the notebook on her bedside table and wrote it down.
Once she had finished, she looked at the clock radio. It was ten to five. “Great!” she said. “I'll be tired tonight.” She knew that she wasn't going to get back to sleep.
As the day dawned, more people awoke with nightmares...
8:00 AM - Mary White College
Daniel Brennan entered the Dining Hall and saw that his friend Johanna Daitonia had arrived there ahead of him. She was already eating her meagre breakfast, so he rushed into the servery.
“What have you got planned today, Daniel?” Johanna asked as he took a bite from his croissant.
“It will be a busy day,” he answered.
“Oh?”
“I have Chemistry and Biology lectures, and there is also Open Day. I would like to see if anyone from my high school is here for it. My sister would have been graduating this year, so I know most of that year. I will also do some Study,” Daniel answered. “And you?”
“Pretty much the same,” Johanna admitted. “Albeit, my brother isn't in that year.”
“Of course,” Daniel said,
“Still, I may know others from Singleton and Cessnock.”
After breakfast, Daniel went to his room to get ready, and to look something up on the internet. As soon as Yahoo! Messenger had started he saw a strange message in the Offline Messages box.

‘That’s weird,’ he thought.
He looked at the profile. There was no information on that account. ‘I better check my email,’ he thought.
He checked his Yahoo and university email accounts but there were no weird emails.
8:35 Block 3, Mary White College
Johanna was getting ready to go to her lectures, when the phone rang. “Hello?” she answered.
However there was no response, only a dial tone.
“That’s weird,” she said as she put the phone down. She hoped that she wouldn’t get any more prank calls.
9:10 Outside Mary White College
Daniel was outside, doing a part of a Biology assignment. A person from his class he recognised but didn’t know the name of came up to him. “You still keying out the plants, huh?” she asked.
“Yes. It’s a little fun, figuring out which plant is which,” he answered.
The young woman thought for a moment with a serious expression on her face. “I have a feeling that I needed to tell you about something, that something bad might happen in Armidale today...”
Daniel had no idea what she was talking about. But he had had some strange experiences in high school such that he knew that the world was stranger than it appeared. “What do you think it might be?” he asked.
“I have no idea! All I know is that it may be very bad.”
“Right,” Daniel said, wondering what to do about the warning.
The young woman grew nervous. “I’ll see you later, in class,” she said. She began to turn.
“Wait!”
“I’ll see you in class,” she said, and off she went.
9:40 UNE Union Cafeteria
Flora Fielding, whom had talked to Daniel half an hour before, entered the Cafeteria. As she walked towards the counter she had a ‘feeling/vision’...
Flora’s Vision
Flora was in the Beardy Street Pedestrian Mall. It was night time. She saw Daniel run into the New England Hotel followed by a being that matched the popular conception of a ‘Bigfoot.’.
Then she saw the word HORROR appear on the wall of the Hotel in blood...
End Vision
Flora stumbled due to the intensity of the vision. She was scared. She decided to tell Daniel when she got to class...
10:20 Mary White College (Block 3)
Johanna was listening to the radio, which was tuned to the UNE student station at 106.9 FM, while she was studying. The transmission stopped.
“What?” Johanna asked herself.
Another transmission came onto the radio.
“Armidale is coming to an end. Hwa hwa hwa haaaaaaaaaaaa!” it said in Flora’s voice.
“Ah!” Johanna called out in alarm. ‘What is that?’ she asked herself, her heart racing.
The radio resumed its normal transmission.
“That was spooky!” It took a few minutes before Johanna resumed studying.
10:50 Outside Biological Sciences Building
Daniel was talking to his friend, Carina Williams. Suddenly they heard Flora running down the road, calling Carina’s name.
“Daniel, Carina! I need to tell you something!” she said, with shortness of breath when she had come to a stop next to them.
“Calm down, Flora,” Carina said. “What are you going on about?”
“I had a vision, half an hour ago.”
“OK,” Daniel said.
“Go on,” Carina said.
“Daniel was downtown. He was chased into the Newie, by something that looked like a Bigfoot,” Flora said. Her voice then showed more fear. “The word ‘Horror’ appeared on a wall of the pub in blood!”
“Sounds bad,” Daniel mused.
“I think that I have to tell you to be careful,” Flora said.
Carina thought for moment. “What about me?” she asked.
“You weren’t in the vision, but I think you need to be careful too,” Flora said after a moment.
“I guess so,” Carina said.
The lecture was about fungi. More specifically, fungi that had symbiotic relationships with various plant species. This not only included mycorrhizae but also parasitic fungi...
“...Like the Ergot?” Helga Navin asked.
Helga recalled some information from a documentary that she had watched.
“It is a parasitic fungus. It causes hallucinations, and convulsions and is believed to be the cause of the Salem Witch Hunts.” Suddenly she was interrupted. A person appeared at the front of the lecture theatre, floating in mid air.
“What!” Daniel exclaimed.
“What?” Carina asked.
“It looks like my brother!”
Then the person who looked like Daniel’s brother fell down into the students somewhere near Helga. The injured students clambered out from beneath him. He himself appeared to be unhurt. But when Helga tried to wake him she was unsuccessful. “He appears to be unconscious,” she said as Daniel, Carina and Flora came over.
“Someone has to call an ambulance,” Daniel said. Then something else appeared out of the screen at the front of the Lecture theatre with a zipp! sound. Everyone who was not injured looked. It was something that looked like an angel. Then Flora had another vision.

Flora stumbled. “What is it?” Carina asked.
“It was like something out of The Lord of the Rings,” Flora answered. Helga got her mobile phone out and called the emergency number. She asked for the ambulance and told them about the situation.
“What should we do in the meantime?” Daniel asked.
“I don’t have any idea,” Flora answered.
“We could conjecture about whether this is connected to the other mysterious that have appeared since this morning,” Helga suggested.
“That is a good idea.”
“What are you thinking?” Helga asked.
“All that I can think of is that something may be happening to the Space-time continuum in the vicinity of Armidale.
“That’s a crazy idea!” Emma Hickey said. Most of the students were still in the lecture theatre and had congregated around where the person who appeared to be Daniel’s brother had fallen.
“Nonsense Emma, it seems to explain at least some of what is happening here,” Belinda Wells said.
“The Vicinity of Armidale? What about the rotation of the Earth?” Emma asked.
“More weirdness. It is somehow staying with Armidale as the Earth rotates,” Daniel speculated.
“That still doesn’t make sense!” Emma objected.
“It’s the best I can come up with for the moment,” Daniel said.
“Crazy as this sounds, it might be beyond our comprehension,” Carina said. They could then hear the ambulance as it pulled up outside.
The paramedics entered the lecture theatre and saw what appeared to be chaos. All the students were discussing amongst themselves about the connection between fungi, the events of the day, and the child. Some of them were even connecting it with Helga’s comment about ergot.
“Over here,” Daniel said. The paramedics followed the voice and found the young person who appeared to be Daniel’s brother. He was still unconscious. Some of the students had laid him on some chairs. The small white angel white angel thing was still on him and listening intently to the discussions going on around it.
“What happened here?” one of the paramedics asked.
“The small child fell from the sky!” Gavin Poopenstein snapped.
“Not really,” Helga objected.
“He appeared in mid air,” Belinda pointed out.
The paramedic considered this for a moment. “Uh huh?” He went to pick up the child. But the child woke up! The small white angel thing flew up to one of the fluorescent lights. The Child then spoke. “Vetak morestesk careloe.” A green arrow materialised between his hands and flew up and hit the ceiling near the small white angel thing and dissolved part of it…
That done, he appeared to faint. The paramedics took him away.
“So, what now?” Carina asked.
“I would like to go to the hospital. I’d like to know it is actually my brother, or someone who looks like him,” Daniel answered.
“Sure,” Carina said. Then something unexpected occurred. The creature flew down to the level of the seating, and the flew back up and broke through the ceiling, creating a cloud of dust that caused several of the students to cough uncontrollably.
“Maybe not just me…” Daniel added.
“I’ll take you and whoever else wants to go,” Carina said.
11:40 am - the university grounds…
A strange procession was going southwards along Elm Avenue...
The creature was following the ambulance, which was holding its master.
Carina, Daniel and Flora were following it in turn in Carina’s car.
Flora suddenly collapsed in her seat!
“What’s the matter?” Daniel asked.
“Something evil, I can’t otherwise describe it; in my mind I have one word to describe this evil beast/creature

.” Flora said, with a horrified expression on her face…
Then dark clouds came over the horizon…
Armidale Hospital 12:00
Daniel was waiting with Carina and Flora in the waiting room. Then the young teenager came out…
“Go back to the bed, or we’ll sedate you” The doctors shouted. The small white angel thing knocked one of them over…
The other doctors became wary of the small white angel thing. The teenager calmed down, and ran out of the hospital…
“This is serious,” Daniel said.
“I think at this moment, you may as well go back to the University,” Flora said.
“You may be right,” Daniel decided. The creature followed the young teenager out of the hospital.
Daniel went to the office and asked to be notified if the young teenager was recovered.
12: 10 Mary White College
Whilst all this was going on some Mary Whiters were trying to investigate what happened at the Biological Sciences Building…
Bronwyn Thomas had seen the little white angel thing fly over the College. She had also heard the ambulance; it was obvious that something was happening.
After Daniel, Flora and Carina had left, she had gone to the Biology building and had tried to get in; but the area was still too crowded. She had to wait for a while. She had gone back to College to discuss the situation with Johanna.
“So you think something happened there? Johanna asked.
“Yes, something flew over the college from the direction of the building and an ambulance came a few minutes later, I think it is more than a coincidence,” Bronwyn said.
"Well some strange things are happening today, but I don't think the 2 events are linked," Johanna said.
"But will you help me investigate what happened?" Bronwyn asked.
"Yes, I will," Johanna said. They then went to investigate the Biological Science Building, bringing with them a few Mary Whiter friends with them, whom they met on the way.
When they got near the building Helga (who had stayed there for some reason) stopped them "I don't think you should come any closer," she said, not sure whether she should really be stopping them.
"Why not?" Bronwyn asked.
"Some strange things are occurring and besides, there is now a hole in the ceiling in there, it wouldn't be safe to go inside," Helga said.
"Is what caused the hole still in there?" Johanna asked.
"No, there is nothing there now, apart from dust and possibly some strange acid," Helga said.
"Well. We’ll risk it anyway,” Bronwyn said, the Mary Whiters rushed into the building past Helga, who followed them.
"Well, this looks quite damaged," Jess Bellington said. The ceiling damage had spread out from the initial point of contact, and the exit damage caused by the Small White Angel Thing had also spread...
"The Damage has spread somehow," Helga said. They heard creaking above them, and then some acid dripped onto Helga's head, she screamed!
"Oh no!" Johanna exclaimed "Some of your hair has fallen out," Helga felt her hair, and indeed found that some of her already short hair had fallen out, leaving a small bald patch, though it wasn't immediately obvious
"LET’S GET OUT OF HERE!" Bronwyn screamed as one of the fluorescent lights fell and the ceiling around the hole bent downwards!
The others took notice quickly and they all ran out... ...and just in time as most of the ceiling and the roof above the lecture theatre collapsed...
"That was close," Jess said.
"Yes, I think we need to get out of the building," Helga said.
"Ok," Bronwyn said. They left the building
"Will you, tell us what happened earlier?" Johanna asked.
"Ok, but not here," Helga said.
"Ok, maybe in the College then?" Johanna said, thinking...
"Ok," Helga said. They went back towards Mary White College...
Once inside the College, they went to the Computer Room where Helga started to recount what had happened in the lectures...

Downtown Armidale
Elsewhere in Armidale, the person who appeared to be Daniel brother entered K-Mart, he was looking for some stuff; however, the small white angel thing was refused entry, and charged the guards... The person and the small white angel thing charged into the store...

12:25 Mary White College
Helga had told the others what had happened in the Lecture.
"So, what do you think is the best explanation for what happened," Bronwyn asked.
"Something, caused him to appear in mid air, and it is obvious that the angel looking thing, which might also look like a Neopet, also came out of midair, from the screen," Helga said.
"Very weird," Johanna said
“Daniel did suggest something was happening to the space-time continuum, but I am unsure of what that would be," Helga said.
"What do you think should be done?" Jess asked.
"I am unsure," Johanna said.
"Maybe we need to look for the creature?” Helga suggested.
"That is a good idea, but it is most likely at the hospital, if the person who appears to be Daniel’s brother is there," Johanna said.
"Maybe, but it might have helped him escape," Helga said.
"Probably," Bronwyn said.
"We should go to the hospital. We can go to lunch later," Jess said.
"That is an idea," Helga said.
"Ok, let’s go," Johanna said.
So, Bronwyn, Helga, Jess and Johanna left the computer room and went to Johanna's car...
Soon after they had left, Daniel, Carina and Flora arrived at the College; Carina dropped off Daniel and Flora and then went elsewhere.
"You want to have lunch?” Daniel asked. “I think we need to eat before we can do anything about the person and the neopet-like thing.”
"Ok, let’s go then" Flora said. They then went to the Dining Hall.

"Oh no!" Johanna exclaimed "Some of your hair has fallen out," Helga felt her hair, and indeed found that some of her already short hair had fallen out, leaving a small bald patch, though it wasn't immediately obvious
"LET’S GET OUT OF HERE!" Bronwyn screamed as one of the fluorescent lights fell and the ceiling around the hole bent downwards!
The others took notice quickly and they all ran out... ...and just in time as most of the ceiling and the roof above the lecture theatre collapsed...
"That was close," Jess said.
"Yes, I think we need to get out of the building," Helga said.
"Ok," Bronwyn said. They left the building
"Will you, tell us what happened earlier?" Johanna asked.
"Ok, but not here," Helga said.
"Ok, maybe in the College then?" Johanna said, thinking...
"Ok," Helga said. They went back towards Mary White College...
Once inside the College, they went to the Computer Room where Helga started to recount what had happened in the lectures...

Helga had told the others what had happened in the Lecture.
"So, what do you think is the best explanation for what happened," Bronwyn asked.
"Something, caused him to appear in mid air, and it is obvious that the angel looking thing, which might also look like a Neopet, also came out of midair, from the screen," Helga said.
"Very weird," Johanna said
“Daniel did suggest something was happening to the space-time continuum, but I am unsure of what that would be," Helga said.
"What do you think should be done?" Jess asked.
"I am unsure," Johanna said.
"Maybe we need to look for the creature?” Helga suggested.
"That is a good idea, but it is most likely at the hospital, if the person who appears to be Daniel’s brother is there," Johanna said.
"Maybe, but it might have helped him escape," Helga said.
"Probably," Bronwyn said.
"We should go to the hospital. We can go to lunch later," Jess said.
"That is an idea," Helga said.
"Ok, let’s go," Johanna said.
So, Bronwyn, Helga, Jess and Johanna left the computer room and went to Johanna's car...
Soon after they had left, Daniel, Carina and Flora arrived at the College; Carina dropped off Daniel and Flora and then went elsewhere.
"You want to have lunch?” Daniel asked. “I think we need to eat before we can do anything about the person and the neopet-like thing.”
"Ok, let’s go then" Flora said. They then went to the Dining Hall.
