Magika - Chapter 7
Nino felt kind of nervous as he approached Ohno’s room later that night to ask both Ohno and Matsujun to go dinner with him. Well, he felt bad for asking Ohno to help Aiba with his stupid experiment. He knows he should at least warned Ohno about Aiba’s experiment but he doesn’t know why he kind of letting him be Aiba’s assistant. He thought of the experiment as a ‘welcome’ gift to Ohno. But, this will be the only time he allowed Aiba to use Ohno in his experiment. Next time, he will make sure Ohno will not be persuaded by Aiba’s puppy eyes.
When he knocked the door, it was J who opened the door. He entered the room as J lets him in and realized that Ohno was sitting on his bed and pouting to see him enter the room. Nino doesn't have to guess to know that Ohno was sulking because didn’t tell Ohno anything about the experiment.
“How was the experiment?” asked Nino as he took the seat next to Ohno on the bed but Ohno just pouted again before answering.
“I thought it would be a brilliant experiment but it was horrible. Very very horrible. I don’t know why I helped him with the experiment,” said Ohno and Nino asked him to tell him about the experiment in more details. From Ohno’s story, it seems that Aiba was trying to see if green pepper would help him stay underwater for a longer time. Then, as he realized that green pepper will not help him with the experiment, he decided to use bell pepper instead. Indeed, he stayed longer underwater using bell pepper than green pepper. But, what makes Ohno thinks it was a useless experiment was because he beats his time to stay underwater without using any bell peppers for the second try. Ohno was expecting something like a proper science experiment, not something like that. Ohno also told him about how Aiba asked his opinion on how to improvise his mirror man costume.
“Don’t worry; I won’t let him use you anymore. I just let he used you this time so that you will know how weird Aiba is and be more careful around him. Especially when he seduced you with his puppy eyes,” said Nino after Ohno finished complaining.
“Really?” asked Ohno. He is like a little child. Nino just nodded his head and Ohno was just beaming at him. Looking at Ohno’s cute expression, Nino couldn't help but lean and pecked at his cheek. When he realized what he was doing, Ohno was just blushing with a shocked expression on his face.
“Oh, my. It is only the second day you met and you already kiss his cheek. I wouldn't be surprised if I found both of you sleeping together tomorrow,” said J. Nino was just laughing looking at Ohno’s face turned red. He doesn't know why but he couldn't control himself just now. Ohno’s cheek looks so smooth that he felt the need to touch it just now with his lips.
“Anyway, enough about your pervert stuff. I heard from Ohno that you went with Sho to the library to find out more about telekinesis. Do you find any useful stuff?” asked J. Nino couldn't help but snorted hearing the question. The trip to the library was not anywhere to be useful. It was useless. He should spend the day with Ohchan rather than go to the library with Sakurai. But, anyway, he just told both Ohno and J what he found from the library, which is proving J’s theory to be right.
It was from a very old book. The cover looked like it has been replaced recently but it wouldn't change how the inside of the book looks like. The pages are very brown and stained, making some pages are very difficult to read. It was not too thick. From the first glance, Nino wouldn't even bother to read the book but it is Sakurai who found the book after all. According to Sakurai, the book was not supposed to be where it was when he found it. He was searching about telekinesis in magic and science section, but was surprised to find a book entitled ‘The Fifth Founder’ which was supposed to be in the history section. As it was the first time he ever found a book about the fifth founder, he started to read the book. That’s where he found a chapter about the founder’s magical ability, which is telekinesis. But, whatever was written in the book was completely ridiculous. There is no evidence to support the writer’s argument. It was only a hypothesis he made from what he heard and seen. In fact, he never ever met the fifth founder but claim to hear about him accidentally from the founder Ninomiya and Aiba. Apparently, the founder Ninomiya was deeply attached with the fifth founder and regrets the decision of letting him left the group. There is no way Nino is going to believe the writer.
When he told Ohno and J about his findings, J was just smirking at him while Ohno was once again put on his spacing face. Nino just knew him for two days but he can guess that this little guy spend most of his time staring into space. He bets that Ohno wouldn't remember to eat unless someone reminds him to do so. As all three of them stop discussing about Ohno’s magical ability, Nino looked around Ohno’s table when he noticed a drawing book. He looked at Ohno, as if asking for permission to look at the book. Ohno who realized what Nino was looking at his drawing book, just nodded his head to give permission for Nino to look at it.
As Nino opened the drawing book, he cannot help but feeling amazed with Ohno’s talent. All of his drawings look so real. Silently, he admired this little guy who seems like he cannot do anything but actually has a lot of hidden talents. “You drew Erika chan,” said Nino silently. Ohno’s face suddenly turned red again.
“Your sister looks cute and that’s why I drew her. I hope you won’t mind. You could give the drawing to her if you want,”
“Do you like my sister?”
“No, of course not. I just think she is cute,” said Ohno, blushing. Nino was just smiling at him and put back the drawing book on the table.
“If you want to give the drawing to Erika chan. Give it to her yourself, okay. I cannot help you with your love interest,”
“But, I don’t like her. I just draw her,” said Ohno. Again, Nino was just smiling. He refused to tease Ohno about it. He doesn’t know why but he felt jealous to know that Ohno drew a picture of his sister but not him. He thought that no one realized his expression changed when he saw the picture, but of course Matsumoto could see the hidden sadness in his eyes.
Ohno, on the other hand remained oblivious to the way Nino feels as he searched for something in his drawer. When he found the thing he has been looking for, which is a drawing book, he smiles sweetly to Nino as he took a piece of paper from the drawing book and handed it to Nino. Feeling weird, Nino hesitantly took the paper. As he looks at the drawing on the paper, he couldn't help but smile to see a beautiful drawing of himself. The drawing looks so realistic, far more beautiful than he is. He doesn't think that he is as beautiful as the drawing. Since he met Ohno yesterday, he was the one who makes the other guy blushes with his teasing, but this time, he is the one who felt shy even though Ohno didn't tease him.
“I’m sorry it is not pretty. But, it is the best that I could do. I draw you because I want to give a present to you and I only know how to draw. You are my first friend. No one ever wants to be my friend because I am too quiet. They want me to talk but I don’t like to talk. You don’t push me to talk too often even though we just met yesterday. It’s like you understand me. I don’t even know why I started to talk too much when I’m with you even though I don’t really like to talk,” said Ohno. Nino was just smiling hearing that. He doesn’t even know how to respond to that but he just gives Ohno a small hug as gratitude.
"But, why is this drawing in a different drawing book?" asked Nino.
"Oh, this is my precious drawing book. I draw properly in here. It is only for something that I like," said Ohno as he picked the second drawing book. Then, he picked the first drawing book before continuing. "This is my other drawing book. If I felt boring, I usually draw in it,"
Matsumoto who was watching both of them just shaking his head and smiling to see the sadness in Nino’s eyes disappeared. He doesn’t know why but he thinks these two shorty boys look cute and compactible as a couple. But, like before this, he make a sarcastic remark about how perverted Nino is just to annoy Nino as a revenge for Nino who always tease him with Mao chan.
