Magika - Chapter 3
Ohno didn’t believe in what he just did. He mentally told himself yesterday to stay away from the prankster Ninomiya but apparently, he didn't do as what he wished to do. When Nino showed up in front of his door this morning, he just talked with the guy and then went to eat breakfast with him. Then, he sat next to the guy in the class and now, they’re eating lunch together. And, the weirdest thing is he lets the guy swing their hand together as if it was the most natural thing to do. He doesn't want to admit it but there is something interesting about the small guy that makes him attracted to him, but of course not in a romantic way.
Another thing is he also let Nino called him Ohchan as if they are best friend. He also violates the promise he made to his mother to not let anyone knows about his telekinesis ability. But, Nino is a wizard just like him. For sure, this is a normal thing to do, right?
As they were eating silently, Aiba and Kouya/Sakurai approached them. He can’t believe that Sakurai actually lied to him about his real identity. It’s not like Ohno is not going to find out about his true identity even if Nino didn’t tell him the truth this morning. In the class, he was obviously the attention seeker, answering all the questions from the teacher. And the teacher obviously said, “As expected from Sakurai san” so, how do he expects Ohno wouldn’t know about his true identity then? For someone as clever as Sakurai, he really did a sloppy job in hiding the truth from Ohno. Maybe he would think that both of them will not have any classes together or Ohno will drift into dreamland while in class and that’s why he wouldn’t know about Sakurai’s real name.
“Look, who’s here, Ohchan. It’s Kouya san,” said Nino. Aiba was just looking at both of them confusedly while Sakurai looks guilty.
“Nino, what are you talking about?” asked Aiba.
“Oh, it’s nothing. It’s just someone named Sakurai Sho recently told this young boy with cute chubby cheek and sexy butt his name is Kouya san,” said Nino casually while Sakurai just glared at him. Ohno doesn’t know what causes the rivalry between Nino and Sakurai but obviously he doesn’t want to get involved in it. Looking at Aiba’s reaction, he was pretty sure that the young boy is always getting torn on which side he wants to choose.
“It’s okay, Sakurai san. I don’t know why you lied to me yesterday but I’m cool with it. Just explain to me the reason behind your action,” asked Ohno.
“Well, to be honest, I don’t know why I did that. Everyone treats me differently when they know that I’m a Sakurai, like they have an expectation about me. But, I’m not like what everyone thinks I am. I’m not brave and strong. In fact, I’m the lousiest person ever. I don’t have the traits shown by my ancestors, unlike Aiba, Nino and Matsujun. So, when I met you who have no idea who I am, I like the feelings so I just want to have that kind of feelings a little bit longer,” explain Sakurai. Nino who was in front of Ohno was just snorted listening to the explanation. Ohno just nodded his head, understanding the reason for Sakurai to lie yesterday. In his neighbourhood, everyone was talking about how lovely he is and whenever anyone new moved to their neighbourhood, everyone will tell them about him. And, somehow, he doesn’t like the feeling too. It was like he was not allowed to do anything bad or weird just to protect his reputation in the neighborhood. It’s like he has unofficial responsibility among the kids in the neighborhood.
“Now, that you’re done explaining to my lovely Ohchan, would you mind move away from here? You make me lose my appetite,” said Nino. However, Sakurai was just snorted at him and take a seat next to Ohno while Aiba take a seat next to Nino.
“Oh, please, Nino chan. Wouldn’t it be better if you and Sho chan be friends?” asked Aiba. He seems tired to see the rivalry between Nino and Sakurai. Ohno wonders what happened between those two boys.
“Aiba, why would I be friend with the boy who makes my father spank me when I was 5 years old?”
“But, Nino chan, it was our own fault. We’re the one who put the laxatives in his bunny’s food and caused his bunny to die,”
“Yes, but we’re doing it because you’re so curious to know what is the use of laxatives. Why would he report it to my father? I was only 5 years old and he spanked me because of Sakurai,”
“But, he loves the bunny. Of course he is sad when the bunny died. I think you would do the same thing too,” said Aiba. Ohno doesn't know why but he felt like laughing hearing the reason for their rivalry. Nino looks childish for holding a grudge against Sakurai because of that.
“Why are you laughing, Ohchan? Do you think I am childish because of that?” asked Nino while pouting. This causes Ohno to feel bad for laughing at Nino.
“I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t laugh at you,”
“Everyone called me childish because of that. But, my father never ever lifts a finger on me before this but suddenly he spanked me because he said I was naughty. I got a fever for a week because my body was too shocked, you know,”
“Okay, Ninomiya. I know I’m wrong. I’m sorry for being an asshole when we’re five years old, but could you forgive me? It will be better for everyone if we’re friends,” said Sakurai while offering his hands. Maybe he too was tired with the long rivalry with Nino because of the childish reason. Nino, on the other hand, doesn’t look like he wants to be at peace with Sakurai at first but suddenly he smiled and shake Sakurai’s hand.
“Okay, I’ll forgive you. I thought of not forgiving you because you always steal Aiba from me, but you can take Aiba whenever you want now. I have Ohchan to accompany me now,” said Nino and Ohno could feel his cheek blushes because of the comment. He knows he should be uncomfortable with the way Nino was acting around him but instead he felt happy because of it.
“Oh, so, you’re ditching me now because you have a new friend,” said Aiba while pouting.
“You’re the one who ditch me first,”
“Wow, look who’s here. It seems weird to see Nino laughs while Sho is here. He will always glare whenever Sho is near him,” said Matsumoto who appeared out of nowhere and take another chair to sit at the head of the table.
“If you spend less time with Mao chan, you will know that Sakurai and I are friends now,” said Nino.
“Oh, really? You’re just jealous because no one loves you the way Mao loves me,”
“I don’t care. Anyway, as both of you will not be of any help, I would like to ask a question to Sakurai because I have something to validate,” said Nino as he was glancing at Ohno for a while. Ohno was just staring at him, wondering if what Nino was going to ask about has anything to do with him.
“Hmm, what is it that you want to ask?” asked Sakurai.
“Ne, is there anyone who is able to perform telekinesis?” asked Nino, almost whispering as if he doesn’t want anyone else other than the five of them to hear about it. Hearing the question makes Ohno feel uncomfortable. Why did Nino asked about that? Is moving something with your mind is not a normal thing even among wizards?
“No, no one has ever been able to perform telekinesis before this, not that I’m aware of. Because we cannot move thing with our mind, we used wand to do that, for example to summon things. Why did you ask? Did you know anyone who can perform telekinesis?” asked Sakurai but Nino was just shaking his head. Ohno just stared at Nino while Nino gave him a look which clearly said that ‘I’ll talk to you later when no one was around’.
“No, I was just wondering about it. I watched X-men recently and realized that no one has ever been able to perform telekinesis like Jean Gray. So, I was thinking that if there is someone who is able to do telekinesis, he or she must be powerful,”
“Maybe that’s why no one is able to do telekinesis. There will be no one to be able to defeat him, like Jean Gray. It was only because Wolverine has healing ability that she was finally defeated in the movie. And, as far as I am concern, no one has the healing ability too,” said Sakurai. Just like yesterday, he explained more than needed to all of them. Nino was just staring at Ohno as if begging him not to tell the others about what he told him this morning. He was just nodded, understanding Nino’s request. Now, Ohno wonders if he really really able to do telekinesis. Ever since his mother asked him not to talk about it, he never really tried it. Silently, he hopes that he will not be able to do so anymore, just so that he will feel normal among the wizards.
