Prologue
It was just a small house. In fact, there is nothing different about the house. It is built identically with the other house in the neighbourhood. But, there is of course a secret about the house. Yes, even though it is a normal house, the occupants of the house have a little secret and no one else in the neighbourhood knows about the secret. They thought of the occupants as a middle aged woman who lives with her little son after her husband died. But, there are so much more about them, especially the little boy.
There, in front of the house, a man stood still. Even though he was dressed normally in his formal attire and the hat, it was not actually normal for him. Usually, he will wear a long robe, instead of a coat. But, just for today, he will not wear that. He will need to dress appropriately to gain the trust from the occupants of the house.
As he was about to knock the door of the house, he was being interrupted by a loud crack noise outside of the gate of the house. Realizing what the sound means and who might actually interrupt his mission, he decided to change the plan. Before the other person has a chance to see him, he suddenly dissolved into the thin air. And, the small boy who watched him from the window gasped to see him suddenly disappear. Thinking that he might have imagined it, he didn’t tell his mother about the weird man.
Chapter 1
Ohno Satoshi opened his mouth in awe, still cannot believe where he is now. Just a week ago, he had found out that he was actually a wizard. Well, he actually figured that maybe there is something wrong with him when he found out that he can move something with his mind, but he never thought that he is special. In fact, he thought of himself as a weird kid. When he showed his mother what he can do, his mother cried and begged him not to show it to anyone else. So, he thought that it was not a normal thing to do.
But, a week ago, an old man wearing a long robe came to his house. The man talked to his mother, discussing about his education. He felt weird because it has been decided that he will go to a school that he didn’t remember the name anymore. But, the old man, or as he introduced himself as Kitagawa Sensei said that he should go to a school named Arashi for his own good. He doesn’t know any of nearby school named Arashi before this. Well, his mother asked him to go to his room as she discussed with Kitagawa sensei about his future. He wants to eavesdrop but it is only buzzing sound that he can hear. He doesn’t know why.
So, after a long time, Kitagawa sensei finally managed to convince his mother to let him go to the school. And, to let her feel better, he offered a job in the school so that his mother can monitor him. His mother told him that he will work as a helper in the school and was paid reasonably. Then, she explained to Ohno about him being a wizard, just like her. There are actually other wizards in the world and Ohno needed to attend Arashi Wizarding School so that he will know how to use and control his magic. And, now, here he is. In the main hall of the school, waiting to enter the dining hall for sorting ceremony. He doesn’t really understand about this but according to the pamphlet containing the information about the school given by Kitagawa sensei, there are actually four houses in the school. He was so lazy to read more about the houses so he doesn’t know anything else. Now, when he wants more information about the sorting, he doesn’t have any idea where is the pamphlet?
Suddenly, there was a scream behind him. He was too surprised to notice a frog was hopping right in front of his eyes. When he finally got over the surprise, he noticed two boys were laughing loudly and a girl was pouted.
“They put a frog in a box and gave her. The girl thought it was a present. She opened the box without thinking. She should know they are prankster,” a guy beside him gave an explanation. Ohno analyzed the other boy. He was taller than Ohno, has a sloping shoulder and looked like a nerd.
A stern looking woman appeared from the dining hall. Based on her appearance, Ohno would guess that she is one of the teachers and she was sent to investigate the screaming. All of the boys pushed the two pranksters to her and Ohno just watched as she lectured both of them. One of them is tall while the other one is just about the same height as Ohno. The taller one looked innocent and guilty as he listened to the teacher’s nagging but the other one shows no sign of remorse. Instead, he looked like he was plotting another prank. Ohno makes a mental note in his mind not to get involved with the short boy so that he will not be tricked by him.
“How do you know they are prankster?” asked Ohno to the nerd guy.
“You must be a muggle if you don’t know who they are,” said the nerd guy. Muggles? What does that mean?
“Excuse me, what does muggle means?” the nerd guy just shakes his head repeatedly before beginning his long lecture.
“Muggle is a term used by wizards to describe a normal human being. As you are not familiar with the term as well the Aimiya duo, I guess your parents are muggles. You know, I think that you should do some research before the start of the school so that you will know some stuff and not being left out like this,” Ohno just listened to the nerd guy’s nagging. His parents are not muggles. Both of them are wizard. But, he doesn’t know why they kept their identity from him. Perhaps there is a story behind it. This reminds him of the weird man that he saw outside of his house shortly before Kitagawa sensei appeared. Was it a dream, or is he real? If he is real, why did he go away?
“Hey, are you listening to me or not?” said the nerd guy, bringing Ohno back to the reality.
“I don’t think you hear any of what I said. Aimiya is popular because both of them are the direct descendants of the founders of Arashi Wizarding School. There are four founders, Aiba, Matsumoto, Sakurai and Ninomiya. However, I used to hear from my grandfather that there is another founder but no one ever heard of him so it may have been a bluff. This is the first time all of the descendants of the founders will start the school together. I hope you know that there is a sorting ceremony and that is what we’re going to do next,” Ohno had to admit that the nerd guy is one annoying and boring guy. But, at least, he did something good. He saved Ohno the trouble of reading the pamphlet.
“How are we going to be sorted?”
“It’s based on our personality. The house is named after the favorite colour of the founder. But, instead of in Japanese, it was in Latin. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know. It’s not in any of the books I read. There are puniceus, which is purple, rutilus red, crocinus yellow and crudus green. It was said that your personality may have been similar to the founder of the house that you are sorted into. For example, if you are sorted into rutilus, it means that you may have the same personality as the founder Sakurai, which means that you are brave and have leader-like quality,”
“Oh, thank you for the long and detailed information. You tell me more than I need. Anyway, I am Ohno Satoshi. How about you?” Ohno offered his hand to shake with the nerd guy. The nerd guy looked at him, contemplating to grab his hands or not before finally answering.
“I am Yoshimoto Kouya,”
The sorting ceremony took longer than he expected. Maybe because he was hungry that he thought the time was moving really slow. Once the sorting ended and the dinner started, he ate like a hungry man he is, without really paid attention to his surroundings. Then, all of them were asked to get to their room and sleep to get ready for their class which will begin tomorrow. The information about his room was in an envelope that appeared magically once he has been sorted.
There, he stood in front of his room, afraid to go in. According to Kouya, everyone will have a roommate and he wondered who will be his roommate. Is his roommate a nice and friendly guy or is he a shy and quiet guy? Will they be able to live comfortably in this room?
Feeling tired and sleepy, he turned the knob only to be surprised with a giant poster of Michael Jackson at one side of the room. Wow, he can’t believe that a wizard is actually a fan of Michael Jackson. Or, maybe his roommate is actually a muggle.
The door to the bathroom opened to reveal a shirtless skinny guy with a shoulder-length black hair. The guy took a glance at him before moving to his own cupboard, taking out a flashy t-shirt.
“So, you’re my roommate, huh? What’s your name?” asked the guy as he admired himself in the mirror.
“Ohno Satoshi. And, you?”
“I am Matsumoto Jun. So, as you are sorted into puniceus, I expect you to be a perfectionist like I am. I want the room to be tidy all the time. If it is not, you will be fine. The light should be off by 10 because I need to get enough sleep. Don’t ever think of switching on the bedside lamp as I will not be able to sleep. If you cannot finished your work before 10, kindly do it in puniceus common area. If you’re not in the room by 10, I will lock. Please do not use your key to open the door as I am sensitive to noise and will wake up. Do you understand what I said so far?” Ohno hesitantly nodded his head while complaining silently. What a meticulous man his roommate is. A lot of rules and all of them are about him.
“Okay, now, we will talk about the bathroom. If you need to use the toilet in the middle of the night, go there as quietly as you can. I will take shower at 7:45 and usually it will be about half an hour so adjust your shower time accordingly,” again, Ohno just nodded as he packed his stuff. Wow, what a diva. Ohno could guess that he is one of the descendants of the founders because of his surname and his diva attitude.
“Okay, as it is already 9:30 pm, I will be lenient and let you switch off the light after you finished unpacking. Good night,” said the diva as he lied down on his bed. Ohno quickly started to unpack his stuff as he needs to sleep as soon as he can. He is so tired today.
Once he done unpacking, he lied down on his bed. Feeling so tired and sleepy, he was drifted into the slumber land immediately. Although he felt like he slept only for a minute, he was surprised to hear the alarm clock rang at 7:30. As he cursed the alarm clock for disturbing his sleep, he went to the bathroom to get a shower before Matsumoto wake up.
The shower took him only ten minutes so he wondered what did Matsumoto do while shower that it took him 30 minutes? As he was dressed, Matsumoto woke up and quickly go to the bathroom to take a shower. Ohno was contemplating on whether he should wait for Matsumoto so that they can go to the class together or should he just go alone? Thinking that they are not close yet and Matsumoto may have caused him to be late in his first day of class, he decided to go to the class alone.
As he opened the door of his room, a guy was standing right in front of him, about to knock the door. Immediately, he recognized the guy. Seeing the mischievous smile of the guy, there is no mistake that the guy who was standing in front of him now is the shorter guy of the Aimiya duo.
A/N: So, I was just started writing a new fic. Right now, I have been writing until chapter 4. I know it sounds like Harry Potter but I promised this will be different than Harry Potter. As always, comments are appreciated :)
