March Already?

Almost two months since my last post. Okay, so much for posting more often. But I feel like I'm ready to do just that. Yeah, I've said that before. We'll see how it goes.

I'm not even going to say the "W" word.

It's been busy at work. I took on added duties and they've taken on a life of their own. It's more work than I thought it would be. That and it feels like a lot of people are out for my hide. Politicians and Big Business are bashing public education and throwing ridiculously large amounts of money at groups and legislation to dismantle the unions. Our own governor is pleading with us to knuckle under to Republicans who want to take away our pensions and cut our salaries. At their last meeting, the CSU Chancellor and the Board of Trustees began their meeting one hour early with very little public notice to announce that CSU campus presidents are underpaid. They compared the salaries to those of a small group of administrators working at private universities. Some of these people earn more than the president of the United States, and they get all kinds of stipends in addition to a salary! And most of them are professional administrators, not educators. And because some of those highly-paid presidents were unable to meet their enrollment targets our system had to give back millions of dollars in funding! Meanwhile, the BoT has voted to increase student fees over 200% in the last couple years, staff and faculty workloads have increased exponentially thanks to cutbacks, and they've continued to vote themselves raises. Where's the justice?

On the bright side. I am really looking forward to the premiere of CHAOS and seeing James Murray on a weekly basis once again.

The official trailer for the new Three Musketeers movie in 3D is out and looks good. There's a scene with Mads as Rochefort dueling on a rooftop high above the city. Very cool.

Filming of The Hobbit has begun in New Zealand.

And Viggo is beautiful.

mads, chaos, viggo, work
