A month has passed...

since I last posted here. Not sure why it's taken so long. But that's the past.

So, the Tour de France started on Saturday with an Individual Time Trial Prologue. Fabian Cancellara once again proved his mastery of the discipline to take the Yellow Jersey into Stage 1. The course for Stage 1 was flat as a pancake, but had some scary moments when a dog ran into the middle of the peloton causing several riders to crash. Then, in the run up to the finish line there were no less than three crashes; one spread across the width of the road damming up the pack behind it. Among the trapped riders were sprint champions Mark Cavendish and Tyler Farrar. They did finish, but well back in the pack. Today there was rain and treacherous road conditions. Lance, Levi, and Chris Horner reported hearing crashes behind them and then riding up on riders who had gone down in front of them. And not just riders, but motorbikes and team cars. Sylvain Chavanel had been in the breakaway and out of the melee. He forged ahead to take the stage win. The main body of the fractured peloton limped in a full three minutes later. But the Yellow Jersey, Cancellara, aware of the toll the road and weather had taken on his fellow riders had fallen back to speak to the race official and requested that the race be neutralized (in essence there would be no change in General Classification standings). He then rode up through the riders around him and they came in slow and easy en masse without contesting a sprint finish. A class act by Cancellara. Tomorrow we'll see who among the fallen will be back in the saddle for Stage 3. Team RadioShack picked up a few scrapes and bruises (Klodi was caught in two crashes yesterday and two more today) but the team is still intact.

I've had my pepper plants for a month now. I re-potted them and they are doing well. My Apache pepper has a dozen peppers, three of them already one inch long. My Jalapeno has grown taller, but no peppers yet. My basil plants are still going strong as is my chive.

I've also been taking a lot of pictures with my little Nikon compact camera. It's fun and I'm getting some pretty good photos. I'll have to review the photo-posting instructions for LJ.

And it's back to work tomorrow. I enjoyed the long weekend. Did a little shopping at the Outlet Mall with my sister. Hung out at the apartment. Got some chores done.
