Golden Globes Dresses

Perry Reeves in Herve Leger: Hasn't this dress had its moment? Also, a lot of people did cocktail, which is fine, but this one is still not quite dressy enough. 5

Zoe Saldana in Louis Vuitton: I can see how some might think it's fussy, but I love the color and I think she can pull off all the details. Gorgeous! 9

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta: This is beautiful but a bit too second coming of Penelope Cruz at the Oscars. 7

Olivia Wilde in Gucci: Not to my particular taste but I can't deny that she's working it. 8

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino: Why does Brad Pitt always get with women who wear nothing but black. She looks good, but it's a snooze. 6

Jane Lynch in Ali Rahimi: The Project Rungay boys thought the dress was wearing her a bit, and I have to agree. 6

Vera Farmiga: She looks beautiful but not exactly like Penelope Cruz, so good. 8

Sandra Bullock in Bottega Veneta: It's maybe a bit girlish, but it's so nice to see her in a color like this, and the dress is pretty. 8

January Jones in Lanvin: Kind of boring, and she loses points for the styling. 6

Patricia Arquette: Not her craziest look. 5

Leona Lewis: It's pretty but the stretch satin puckers in places, and I'd prefer her hair back or up. 6

Fergie: Same hair critique as above, but it's beautiful and more feminine than her usual thing. 8

Sophia Loren: Gets a 10 just for looking like that at 75.

Jane Krakowski in J. Mendel: She's looked odd at these things in the past, but this look words for her. 8

Elisabeth Moss: What??? NO! Why?! 2

Marion Cotillard in Dior: From the waist up, this looked great. It's not even the (intentional and part of the dress) slip detail I dislike--it just seems not to sit right. But I love the color on her. 6

Lisa Edelstein: She's boobalicious, but in this fabric, it's all coming across as rather tacky. 5

Jane Adams: The color is pretty but she looks bridesmaid-y, especially because her hair is not very done. 6

Ginnifer Goodwin in Vionnet: Cocktail done right. She looks hot! 9

Courteney Cox in Victoria Beckham (!!!) with David Arquette: About as snoozy as her BFF Aniston. 7

Cameron Diaz in Alexander McQueen: Given her past history, this is a vast improvement. 8

Nicole Kidman in Nina Ricci: I've seen people online who like this, and while the color is pretty on her, it looks like badly fitted curtains to me. 5

Jenna Fischer: Hard to see it here, but the drop waist is a bit frumpy on her. This is a great pic, though. 7

Kate Hudson in Marchesa: She mostly carries off this dress, which Tim Gunn would call "a lot of look." But she keeps picking up the train, which is annoying--maybe because of the rain? 8

Jennifer Garner in Versace: She looks very, very good, though there is nothing that stands out too much about this look. 8

Calista Flockhart with Harrison Ford: Again, hard to tell here, but she's pulling off the 20's look better than Jenna Fischer. 7

Jaime Pressly in Kevan Hall: Too matchy-matchy--even her hair! 6

Alicja Bachleda Curus with Colin Farrell: I had never seen's Colin's baby mama before, but this look is simple but beautiful. The dress needs to be hiked up a tad, though. 8

Heidi Klum in Roberto Cavalli with Seal: Thi is all rather grand dame of her. I usually feel like her looks at these things are just a smidge too much. 6

Felicity Huffman: A great look that shows off her very toned arms. 8

Lauren Graham: I love her and love the color on her, but the stretch satin strikes again. 7

Amy Adams in Carolina Herrera: Very elegant way to go for a pregnant lady. 7

Jeanne Tripplehorn: I am very surprised, but this kinda caftan thing is working for me. 7

Anna Paquin in Stella McCartney: As with Jaime Pressly, it's all too much gold. 6

Halle Berry in Kaufman Franco: I can't believe she can still pull these looks off. 9

Jodie Foster: She looked great, and I think she's one of the few people for whom I don't think plainer dresses are boring. 8

Cher and Christina Aguilera in Versace: I think Cher is ungradable because she is inimitable. As for Xtina, I'm not really feeling it. 5

Meryl Streep in Chris March: I thought she looked better than usual and was pleased to see it was a Chris March design. 7

Gabourey Sidibe: The color is pretty on her, but since it's so much fabric, maybe a different color belt would break it up. 6

Drew Barrymore in Versace: I didn't know porcupines were in this season. 6

Toni Collette in Elie Saab: I guess it's okay, but I don't think it's great. 6

Nancy Shevell with Paul McCartney: I think Sir Paul would have sprung for a dress so that she didn't have to wear a rug. 1

Julia Roberts vintage Yves Saint Laurent: It's not dressy enough, but she looks good. 5

Kirsten Bell in Jasmine di Milo: I was undecided, but I think it works more than not. 7

Heather Graham: Is it just her stance, or does it look weird around the bust? 7

Mariah Carey in Herve Leger by Max Azria: Unlike Halle, Mariah has too much cleavage for this look, unless she's working at Hooters. 5

Helen Mirren: Helen fucking Mirren. 10

Chloe Sevigny in Valentino: Only she could wear this dress, and I have to respect that. 8

Julianne Moore in Balenciaga with Tom Ford: ARGH! No! WHY?????? 2

Jennifer Morrison: The dingy color makes it all look like a bunch of little dishrags to me. 4

Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive: She's just being Penelope, staying within her wheelhouse. Whatever. 7

Sofia Vergara in Carolina Herrera: I found the color combination on this gound surprising and refreshing. This one puckers a bit too, but I like it otherwise. 8

Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano: I hear she guided him in the design of this dress. I suppose the color works for her, but I don't get why she wanted to look like peach cobbler. 4

Emily Blunt in Dolce and Gabbana: She looks great but grumpy, like she'd starved herself for days to fit into the dress. 8

Carey Mulligan: Okay, the headband with the Cruella dress don't really go together. She's new to the red carpet scene and, to quote Project Rungay, needs some better gays. 4

Rose Byrne in Lanvin: Beautiful, but needs to sit down with Emily blunt and eat a sandwich. At least her hair, though down, is styled in a glam way. 8

Glenn Close: I never know what to say about her. This is the usual sort of thing she does. But I like that she's not all covered up. 6

Maggie Gyllenhaal in RM Roland Mouret: I think the dress is very interesting, but the hair has got to go. 6

Tina Fey in Zac Posen: What a bizarro length. I pretty much agree with the internet that it's pretty from the waist up but a diaster from the waist down. 5

Diana Agron: Kind of youthful and sweet. 7

Sarah Hyland: This girl is 19 but surprisingly working it! 8

Amy Poehler: I'd never have predicted her as one of my best dressed, but I think she looks amazing here. 9

Suzy Amis with James Cameron: Again, I think they can afford to not let her make over a tablecloth. 3

Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix: She's another one of these people who can pull off the really couture looks. I'd have toned this down just a smidge though--a few less ruffles or not white at the belt. 8

Anna Kendrick in Marchesa: She looks great, but it's probably a better dress for someone slightly older. 8

Jayma Mays in Badgley Mischka: I think this is stunning--very updated 50s. 9

Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent: It's slightly interesting black, anyway, and it fits very well. 8
