The Best and Worst of 2009 (in my opinion; you're welcome to disagree)
THE BEST:
Movies: Coroline, Monsters VS Aliens, Star Trek, Harry Potter 6, Princess and the Frog and probably Sherlock Holmes and Avatar but I haven't seen either yet so I don't know for sure.
TV shows: Castle, Heroes making a come back, and Ugly Betty. V is also kind of good but not the best in my opinion. But my favorite show of the year is hands down Castle. Old school murder mysteries with writing quips and jokes throughtout? Sign me up! Nathan Fillion? Just a bonus.
Random cool things: Obama being sworn in as the first african american president.
Kindle 2 (I've only had this one so I have no idea if it's better or worse then Kindle one, but in my humble opinion, it's awesome)
Discovering Shelfari (I know it's been around since like, 2008, but I just discovered it this year so it's new to me)
Healthcare reform actually happening (whether or not it's good...remains to be seen)
Nintendo DSi, need I say more?
Marvel being bought by Disney. This is HUGE. Some may still hate the very idea, but I think it's going to be epic.
Jon Stewert and Stephan Colbert. These two are awesome.
Kathy Griffen getting a book deal.
Project Runway getting back on the air!
The guy who flew the plane safely onto the Hudson (his name escapes me but you go, dude!)
THE WORST:
Republicans basically having a feild day and screwing everything up that they could for Obama and the new administration. I know it's not just republicans, but still...it sucks. Grow up.
The Twilight and New Moon movies causing a boom in Twihards. As if the world needed more. I'm all for fangirling (I'm a big one after all) but the Twilight franchise as a whole is the first one that has seriously irked me. Mostly because the whole series is just crap. If it were good, I wouldn't care so much. But it's crap and giving young adult books a bad name. If Twihards would admit that it was bad (like we Trekkies and Star Wars fans happily admit about our material) it wouldn't be as bad, but they are of the opinion that Twilight is the most amazing thing in the world and it just saddens me that people can't tell what quality books are anymore. Then there's the fact that a lot (not all, I know, but still) the fans are more then slightly obnoxious, but that's a whole other rant.
The economy situation.
Sarah Palin getting a book deal and it being a bestseller.
Glenn Beck in general.
The general boneheadedness going on in the celebrity world. For instance: the Kanye West and Taylor Swift thing, Perez Hilton in everything he's done (the Black Eyed Peas thing), Spencer and Heidi, Miss California playing the victem card when it was her own damn fault, etc.
Jon and Kate.
Balloon Boys parents.
