She tied her long black hair into a ponytail before sprinting across the field to take her place as the striker in their school’s football team. The crowd was cheering her name and her heart beat fast in nervousness and anticipation. She smiled when the referee blew his whistle signaling the start of the match.
A pair of feline eyes watched that smile from afar and immediately, the owner was captivated - as always. He remembered how he was blinded by the bright grin the girl sported when her team won the football match last week. The happy image of hers imprinted itself in his head and the sound of the girl’s laughter still rang in his ears as she and the captain of the female football team hugged to celebrate their team’s victory. To be honest, he was jealous of the team captain although she was his best friend. He wanted to know what it feels like to have the tall athletic girl in his arms. He wanted to feel her warmth and he wanted to be a part of her happiness.
Minjung ran and leapt and kicked while Kibum followed her every move closely, like a hawk watching its prey. Kibum admired Minjung for her never-ending drive, her strong spirit, and her competitiveness. He loved her smile, her laughter, and her loving heart. Kibum liked kids. Seeing Minjung treating little kids as if they were hers drove him crazy with want and love. He replayed the time when he accompanied Junghee to accompany Minjung while she was babysitting her baby cousin, Yoogeun. He remembered how Junghee ditched the two of them at the park to run into the arms of her boyfriend, Jinki, who was a college student. He also remembered the endless compliments he and Minjung received as they strolled around the park with Yoogeun in between them.
Loud roars of cheers erupted suddenly, jolting Kibum out of his daydream. He quickly scanned the field and his eyes caught Minjung who was being tackled to the ground with hugs and laughter from her teammates. His eyes crinkled with mirth as he saw Junghee pulled Minjung to her feet and wrapped her arms around the taller girl in a bone crushing hug. Kibum knew then that Minjung scored the final goal.
45 minutes later, Minjung walked out of the locker room with Junghee. Both were fresh from the shower and glowed with happiness because of their win. Junghee spotted Kibum who was staring ahead into god knows what. Junghee smirked and pushed Minjung in his direction. Minjung’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Junghee winked at Minjung gave up.
“Hey..”
Kibum snapped his head up.
“Hey.. Uhm.. Great game.. C- Congratulations..” he stuttered.
Kibum smiled as Minjung’s hearty laughter filled his ears.
“Thank you. Would you like to join us for ice cream?”
“Really?!” Kibum almost squealed before he caught himself. “I mean sure.. if you girls don’t mind..”
Kibum could see Junghee facepalming from the corner of his eyes at his obvious (and failed) attempt in being discreet with his excitement.
The three made their exit from the school ground in no time but as soon as they stepped out of the gates, Junghee spoke.
“Hey.. I just remembered Jinki asked me out to dinner tonight. So I’m gonna head home and get ready.”
“But dinner is three hours away..” Minjung said.
“So? Beauty takes time, doesn’t it Key?” Junghee retorted with a wink.
Kibum’s eyes narrowed as he glared at his best friend. Before they could say anything else, Junghee waved them goodbye and jogged home.
“So.. uh.. It’s okay if you wanna head home too.. I’ll walk you..” Kibum said, disappointment evident in his tone. Minjung raised an eyebrow and giggled.
“Come on..” was all Kibum heard as Minjung pulled his hand and strode towards the nearby ice-cream shop.
The duo took their own sweet time to finish their ice cream and they also decided to walk around the park just for the heck of it. They both ignored the awed look they received from the couples at the park. Who wouldn’t be? Both were tall and both were beautiful. Hell, Kibum was a man but he knew he looked pretty rather than manly. He didn’t mind it one bit. Neither did Minjung because Minjung was an athlete hence she wasn’t really a weakling nor was she a girly girl. They complemented each other.. and they knew it but they just weren’t sure - yet.
It was almost dinner when Minjung arrived home with Kibum in tow. Kibum watched as Minjung unlocked her door and when the door was opened, he made a move to take his leave.
“Rest well and congratulations for the win again.. See you tomorrow at school, Minjung-ah..”
Kibum waved her goodbye and turned around.
“Kibum oppa..”
Kibum stopped at the sound of her voice. His heartbeat raced when he heard her calling him ‘oppa’. He turned to her and saw her cheeks dusted with pink as if she was blushing. He was curious as to why she was suddenly shy.. but he got his answer when she leaned in closer to him.
Kibum felt her soft plump lips grazing his cheek and his heart exploded with happiness. Minjung pulled away and muttered a quiet goodnight shyly. Kibum touched his cheek and grinned like a fool. Little did he know that Minjung was peeking at the window and saw his little funny victory dance and she too laughed as he skipped on his way back home.
A/N : Okaaay.. it’s waaaay easier writing a girl Kibum rather than Minho. But I hope this is not a fail. ^^
