This post is for anyone who owns an iPhone!
My iPhone is about a year and three months old, and for the last few months, I've been noticing the battery life dwindle. This is to be expected; aside from frequent usage, I also constantly charge it, which we all know is bad. It's unavoidable in my case though, because the special iPhone connection in Tiny (aka the car) for us to jam to my 'pod charges at the same time, and driving without music is super lame.
Finally on Friday, I'd had it, so I looked up the deets on Apple battery replacement services: $79 + $6.95 s/h AND a full week without my phone! Ugh!! No way!!!
Then I stumbled upon
ifixit.com. These people are geniuses!
For a half the price and an infinitesimal fraction of the time, I ordered the replacement battery, all the tools and screws needed, and replaced the battery myself with the aid of their excellent YouTube video! - I say replaced past tense because I have already replaced the battery: I paid $5 for standard shipping on Friday, and it arrived MONDAY! I got home not too long ago from work and performed the fix. It was nerve wracking to be honest, pulling on such delicate pieces inside the phone, and Apple is evil, actually having glued that battery to the phone, but it only took about 20 minutes even with that setback.
I say again, these dudes are awesome. My only concern is that the phone will actually show a difference in battery life, but I won't know that officially until tomorrow. It's charging a lot slower right now, so I'm taking that as a good sign that it can hold a better charge.
I highly recommend them, though. In fact, I have a $5 coupon that I won't be needing if anyone wants the code.
