Author's note: This is my first foray into the Fantastic Four fandom. I haven't read the comic books in so long any knowledge I have would be useless, so I'm going off the movies only. Don't ask where the bunny came from, I've given up arguing with the muses in my head. Comments sate the hunger in my head.
They say your life flashes before your eyes before you die.
If that's true, his life hasn't really amounted to that much. So much time spent on other things that weren't worth anything. Time spent. Time wasted. Time he wouldn't have again. But it was in a single moment, the barest of seconds that felt like the absence of time and a moment of pure clarity, like the spark of life within the fleck stellar matter that exploded into creation, burning brightly within his chest like the flames tingling on his skin.
Time that exploded with white hot pain that seared him from the inside out, followed by a deep, aching cold that spread through his chest when the spear ran him through. Everything stopped, it seemed to him as he began to fall. He saw his sister running towards him, but get pulled back by Reed and Ben as they reminded her forcibly of the power exchange. He felt the pavement dig into his knees as they hit and started to topple over, unable to support himself anymore. They were mere moments, stained by hopes of a future that would never be realized. Sue stared at him, her love reaching out like the flares of a miniature sun and licking at the remnants of his own to try and ignite them. It warmed, but not enough, not nearly enough.
He felt eyes on him, cold, but full of a deep resevoir of emotion that only he had seen and looked to the one they belong to.
"Talk to him! Keep him awake!" the others couldn't touch him without having to worry about their powers being absorbed and Johnny laid there on the cold asphalt, blood tinging his lips.
Norrin boarded the beacon, reaching down as he glided to the young human. "You never finished your story. The one with the sleeping princess."
Johnny gasped, then offered up a weak smile with the last of his ebbing strength. The others hadn't known there'd been other interactions between the both of them. "He woke her and the kingdom was restored." he rasped out.
The Silver Surfer frowned. "How did he wake her?"
"...a kiss." was all he managed before blue eyes lost focus, slipping from the pitch ones that watched him, feeling the energy around fade as the human let go his last breath. Sue ran to her younger brother then, not caring about the power exchange and grabbing him up in her arms with a cry. Nothing happened at her touch and she cried out in anguish as he folded into her embrace, dead.
Norrin felt the surge of power and lingering touch of icy death as Galactus descended upon the ripe planet to plunder viciously and rend it unto oblivion. Darkness hooded his eyes as he watched the two, the woman holding the man who had rekindled a feeling he thought long dead in his breast.
And resigned himself to share in their fate.
