Tuesday, 15 July 2020: My Outing

Jul 15, 2020 22:34

This past Saturday, John and Pam picked me up, and we went to Alan and Olga's for a picnic. Alan and Olga have an above ground swimming pool, but I didn't wear or take my bathing suit. John and Pam did.

For me, this was the first time I'd been further from my apartment than the grounds of my apartment complex, Park Towne Place.

The guy with the bare chest is my middle son, Alan. In the blue shirt is my youngest, John, and next to him, his wife, Pam. We are all sitting under a permanent canopy, and in the background is the above ground pool. In this case, 'above ground' does not mean temporary or flimsy. Olga's husband, who died in his fifties, was a contractor and he built to last.

Our hostess, Olga, picking crabs.

Olga's sister whose name is, I think, Natalya. Their parents immigrated from Russia as adults. I think Olga is the youngest; some of her sibs may have been born in Russia.

Olga's only child, Zachary a.k.a. Zac. He's some kind of an IT wonk.

The guest of honor, Speck. He owns John and Pam.

I sat at a 45 degree angle from Zac and didn't think anything of it. We were outdoors, we weren't face to face, I felt safe. That was then; this is now. Now I'm worried. It's a big canopy; I could have found somewhere safer to sit. Now I'm monitoring myself for symptoms: none so far. When I get to the 25th, I'll know I dodged the bullet.

I'm pinning my hopes on Zac's probable lack of human contact, working in IT. He seems to have friends with whom he may not be extra careful about socially distancing. On the other hand, with all that facial hair, I doubt that he's getting down and dirty with girls. Of course, he may be attracted to guys. Would guys mind the grooming? Good question. FanSee
