I finished the first draft of my second novel yesterday: 82,971 words.

yowza!!!!
I am still in shock.
All I can say, is thank you! Y'all have encouraged me in so many ways. Every comment since I first established this LJ in 2007 has been part of my growth as a fiction writer. I am so grateful. Watching other folks take on Big Bangs and NaNos gave me the nerve to eventually try it for myself. Over the weekend someone on AO3 kudos my post-5.22 story, the Promise Verse. It's what I think of as my first novel, and I'm still really proud of it.
It's been wild watching myself progress from my safe zone as a poet -- drabbles, ficlets and stories around a thousand words -- to my first semi-bang the 12000 words Dancers at the Lake, to the Promise Verse, to my 2011 33,000 word Nano, to "crossing the finish line" with 50,000 words in 2013 Nano, and now, finishing the Novel that I first conceived back in, I kid you not, 1988, as a undergrad doing creative writing.
wow!!!
Thanks, y'all, for celebrating the writing life, for being fannish and enthusiastic, for creating communities where we support each other. You rock!
Now on to the mammoth task of editing this thing. I'm also signed up for three challenges that I'm super excited about.
Happy St Patrick's Day -- another Snow Day! We are going to go see Veronica Mars. :D
PS the Fae in my icon is a Sylph. :D
