Ok, fifteen days until Dead To Me officially goes on sale... and frankly I don't think I'll be getting any sleep until then. I gotz the first book jitters.. which means I'm nervous all the time, trying to stay clear of the Amazon Ranking/refresh button disease and failing... anyone care to share their personal woes/ triumphs over prebook launch ( Read more... )

I am useless, since I'm spending all my time refreshing Rotten Tomatoes to see what's going on with the Spiderwick movie.

What yer going through right now makes me seem like a whiny lil manb*tch don't it?

On the plus side at least you have a movie... the writer's strike kicked in around the time I was up for some consideration!

No way, first book is the WORST anxiety ever! The hardest part is that once the book is on shelves, you often STILL don't know anything--I'd say it takes a year to really have a sense of how a book sold. At least with a film, opening weekend is like a band-aid that gets ripped off fast.

And the writer's strike is (probably) going to be over soon.

Since my books come out a year apart, I always have the next one due on the day the previous one is released. Y'know, just for extra yummy bile-flavored stress.

It may be hard to believe now, but eventually the Amazon ranking refresh button thing will get boring.

BUT...

There's a site that will display Amazon rankings for all your books (or someone else's, if you put their name in the search engine), as well as your current review status (# and stars), all on one convenient page. I finally had to bump that off my Favorites list, and I don't remember the URL. It is poison. Poison, I tell you!

I WILL FIND IT!!!!!

Yeah, book 2 is due when 1 launches.. so amid the tour planning, party planning, fretting, I have edits to get through too!

Honestly, it's all fun and I wouldn't change a thing, but it do make a man think he coming apart at the seams a bit!

I'm right there with you. Stomach rolling, chronic diarhhea, racing thoughts of impending doom.

Keeping busy. Every second that I don't, I'm checking Amazon, self-googling and agonizing over whether I've done enough self promotional stuff. Over this weekend, I put together signed bookplates for indy bookstores and am about to go mail them off.

Book 2 delivery is this friday. Aaaaaaaah!

Dead to Me is already on my book list's read and discuss list for April, so there's at least 15 of us that are ready to go. Keep breathing.

And we're talking about Mark's Unshapely Things in March and Unquiet Dreams in June.

So I'm doing my part to help!
