Panic and Rockband Live in Dallas repost

Nov 18, 2008 13:07

(I apologize to those of you who have already seen this. I added all the videos I took, and they have sound now, and I wanted it all in one post before I shared the link far and wide.)

This is my third time seeing Panic live and it was by far the best show I've seen them do. Unbelievable. I had really excellent seats. The Nokia in Grand Prairie is exactly the right size for this show. The Scott Trade Center in St. Louis was just too big and it wasn't full and like I mentioned before, stupid ticketmaster didn't fill the front center seats first, they tried to fill up the sides first for some fucked up reason. Gah. Anyway. ALL the seats in the Nokia face front and center which is as it should be. No one wants to sit facing the side of the stage.

Anyway. I had a great seat and I could see all the animation I missed last time and I just enjoyed it so much more. I thought The Cab sounded really good. I'm still underwhelmed by The Plain White Ts, but Dashboard Confessional was pretty good. My friend loved them, they totally have a new fan now.

Went to the Northern Downpour meet and greet before the show. There were a ton of people for this one. And the room they shoved us in was so tiny. Wall to Wall people.

The meet and greet room was very small and it was hard to move everyone around in there, but it was pretty much like the last one. One thing signed and one picture. One woman gave Brendon a coonskin cap, because he's in Texas and he has to have a coonskin cap. He very graciously put it on and wore it for most the rest of the pics. Brendon immediately starting singing the Davy Crockett song (Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier) and good lord, you never heard a room full of chatter quiet down so fast. It was pretty funny. You could tell he wasn't putting much effort into it, he was just messing around but it was so loud! His voice projected into this tiny little room and wow. LOUD.

ETA: So after all that talk about not touching anyone, I was totally paranoid about my hands which is why this pic looks so awkward. I wanted to make sure Zack could see my hands AT ALL TIMES. I got in place between Ryan and Brendon and they put their arms around me and somehow Brendon and I collided. His arm was squished behind my back against the wall for a second and he said something like, oh sorry I sort of jabbed you in the back there. I just made sure my hands were where they were supposed to be so Zack would take the pic and let me out of there with my camera LOL The girl right before me did something Zack didn't like, I heard him mumbling about it when he took my camera. I don't want to be one of those fans, man!

I'm very happy Brendon has the hat on in my pic. So cute.

I obviously didn't ask for what I wanted, which was to stand between Brendon and Spencer. I'm just hysterically mute at these things. But one girl did ask to stand between Spencer and Jon and they were totally cool about it, just switched around for her, then switched back. Zack said "she wants to be between Jon and Spencer, which, who doesn't?" Zack's a trip, man. Last time in St. Louis he said something about how he knows Brendon's ass is just begging to be squeezed, but they pay him a lot of money and if Brendon needs his ass squeezed, Zack will do it for him.

Zack said we are supposed to treat them like the caged zoo animals they are, don't touch 'em, don't feed 'em, don't poke 'em, don't pinch 'em. He said he lets them out of their cages twice a day, once for the meet and greet and once for the show.

ETA 4: I've seen people talking about this recently so I thought I should share. Zack mentioned the needle in the sharpie again. He said it happened in Europe, it was a guy in line at a signing, and Zack watched him putting the needle in the pen and grabbed him before he could hand it to one of the guys. Zack said he 'damn near broke that guy in half'. I ♥ Zack.

I took a bunch of videos of the concert with my digital camera and they are pretty good. But they don't have any sound, which sucks so much. Apparently my camera just doesn't record sound, which is just weird. My phone takes videos with sound, so wtf fuji? I can upload them to youtube, but I'm not sure anyone will want to watch them without sound. My friend also made some videos and her camera does record sound, so I'm going to try to get copies of hers. Maybe I can rip the audio from hers and sync it up with the video I made? I don't know. We didn't sit together, she was sitting in the section above me with her daughter and niece (they are 13 and this was their first concert :)

ETA 3: New videos, now with sound!

Shout

There's no sound for the first 40 secs, and then there is sound for the rest of the clip. There is sound for the entire song. Sadly we didn't catch the banter at the beginning.

Spencer has to watch Brendon dance so he can time his drum beats with Brendon's pelvic thrusts... *facepalm*
