Well, I was working on a Christmas fic, but my muse lost the holiday spirit halfway through. So, instead, I give you my first AU fic which has been inspired by way too much Pride and Prejudice ( Read more... )

Thanks - when I was reading your story, I just knew I had to use the Mr. Darcy icon :)

I was reading your comments below, and I was wondering, which P&P sequel are you reading?

I'm reading Linda Berdoll's - she has two. I devoured the first (Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife) and now I'm working on the second. I was really reluctant to try any sequel at all, because, you know, it's Jane Austen and you just don't mess with that. But it's a lot better than I expected. Like a really good fanfic, I suppose.

Haha, what a wonderful reaction. I'm glad you like it; I'm working on the next part now (whilst watching P&P over and over).

Okay, confession? I normally hate AUs in general, and Regency AUs with a passion, but because it's you, of course I ended up loving it. It's rather fun to have something Austenesque which begins with a wedding, and I can't wait to see where you take it.

♥Happy Holidays Darling!♥

Heh, I'm glad you liked it, even if it is does carry the stigma of the dreaded AU. I know what you mean, though; a lot of AUs are frightening. But I havea weekness for pirates and arranged marriages, I must admit.

*hugs* Happy Atheistmas. :P

I'm very much looking forward to seeing this continued. I like the use of the Regency era in this fic with them being best friends as well.

Thanks! I thought I'd give them being friends a try - you see so many stories where they're forced together as complete strangers in the Regency era, and while it's always fun and interesting, I don't think it quite captures the nature of their relationship.

I agree, the main focus of their relationship is the build as "just friends". You've got an excellent start. I look forward to more.

Oh my!!! Too ironic and too inviting is what this is. Having been inundated with Jane Austen this semester, I've been dying for such a endeavor as this. There was another Regency era fic that was being written on Portkey which I've started reading as well. But by you, now this is a treat. I can't wait to see where it goes. :p

Oh, you're so lucky! I have yet to have the good fortune of reading a single Jane Austen work in any of my courses, and I doubt I ever will, unless they offer some kind of senior seminar on her (which would be SO awesome).

I'm glad you like - I've been toying with this one in my head for quite some time, and when I recently started reading a P&P sequel, my brain went right back into it. ^^

My entire English class dealt with her novels this semester. Though I registered for it under Women's Studies, it turned out that it was also an upper-level English class that focuses solely on her. It was great treat, as I hadn't read her yet in school, and once in school I don't have much time to myself to read. So I thought this would a be a great way to tackle everything at once. :)

Awesome! I can't wait to find out the extent of Hermione's wifely duties. ;) Don't keep us waiting too long if you can! :D

Ohh, that's awesome. I go to a great school, really, but it's so small that the English classes are all very generic - two American Lits, two European Lits, and two British lits - until you get into the senior sems, which can be cool, but are somewhat rare. I'm only a freshman, but I'm dying to get into the Dickinson/Whitman seminar they're having next semester just in case they never offer it again.

Mmm, wifely duties, indeed. We'll see some of that in chapter 2. ;-D
