Admit It
Sanji knows that he's no "Red Shoes" Zeff. His attacks aren't as powerful as the old crap-geezer's, and he's not quite known by a special name like that yet, a name that strikes terror and fury and worry and false hope into the hearts of many. He's in the stage where he still ends up challenging death with every single battle he fights, and there's numerous scars that he possesses, ones that shouldn't be there at all.
He's got so far to go--and he's not sure if he'll ever be where he wants to. He's not sure if he'll ever be able to return to the restaurant they he resided at for so long and be proud of his return. He's not sure if he'll be able to look Zeff in the eye without fearing what he says, without fearing a kick or a punch as punishment for not being good enough.
Still, Sanji knows that he can try, and he does. When he struggles to keep his own life and succeeds, he knows that he's not making Zeff's sacrifice be for nothing and he knows that that he's out still out here as a pirate, sailing the seas and improving on everything that was taught to him. When he kicks and sees the blood from his enemies staining his black dress shoes, he can only smile and know that he's one step closer to the point where he'll be just as strong as the one who raised him, and then, maybe, just maybe, the shitty old man will finally admit to acknowledging something about him.
