Waiter's knife, originally uploaded by fanelendil.
Peepz, it's Friday 13th! Watch out! :-p

Okay, I didn't get around to blog yesterday and the day before that. Sorry about that. It was kind of a funny day. I couldn't get into gear at all. I sat down to do my course paper, wrote 2 sentences and couldn't be bothered anymore. My mind was kind of scattered yesterday. I don't know why so....but I ended up didn't do anything constructive at all yesterday.

The only thing I managed to do was to finish reading Jonathan Stroud's "Ptolemy's Gate". Another great young adult book. I'd been anticipating the book for at least a year after having read the first two books of the triology. "Ptolemy's Gate" is the second book that I've read in my life that made me cry in the end. The other one was "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"...I cried when Cedric died. In "Ptolemy's Gate", it was a similar situation, i.e. a character died at the end. I mean, I just feel with the character. I deem a good book to be a good book by the fact that I can feel when I read. The fact that I can either relate to the character myself or that I feel as though I knew the character personally. The latter of which applied to "Ptolemy's Gate" and that's why the death of that certain character affected me in such a way.

Anyhow, last evening I went out with Frank and his friends. 'Twas a fun evening....even though I didn't really talk that much. I guessed my seat was a bit disadvantageous since I sat at the end of the table and was a bit cut off from the rest of the group. Oh well, didn't really matter since I was sitting beside Frank. :-p

Frank actually came over to my place first because I didn't know how to get to the meeting place, so he was taking me there with him. Anyway, we hung out at my place for a couple of hours. We actually had been planing on making pumpkin soup one of these days, so we went out to get pumpkin at a supermarket around my place. Don't know when we'll be making the soup though, but now we've the pumpkin, so we'll see about that.

When we were back at my place, he told me to sit down and close my eyes. I did so and he laid something in my hand. :-) He got me a waiter's knife as a surprise! No, no, it's not a Laguiole in the picture, Frank has that. But the one for me was from some other company but judging by the look and feel of it, it's of good quality. That was again plain sweet of this guy! Can't wish for anything else better than him! <3

Rohrspatz and Wollmeise wool, originally uploaded by fanelendil.
Anyway, on Tuesday night when I was at the German Stitch 'n Bitch, a lady showed us a hank of yarn she got from Rohrspatz & Wollmeise. I remembered stumbling on their website once and drooled over the yarn....but didn't trust myself ordering the yarn because they're pretty expensive.

But having had the yarn in my very own hand to inspect and feel it....well, it was heaven!!!! I couldn't resist! So on Wednesday I ended up going on to the website and ordered 4 hanks of yarn in the colourway you see in the picture.

So, from left to right: Spice Market, Rhubarb, At the cold Pole (as in North/South Pole), Corals in the see.

The colourways are amazing and they've beautiful names. You can choose whether you want to have the colour way in bright, medium or dark and you can furthermore choose whether you like the colours to blend in harmoniously with each other or with lots of contrast to each other. Very customisable!

The website isn't an online shop per se. You have to write an email to them to order the yarn. The process of which I find a very personal approach. The owner answers the email pretty much promptly (i.e. the next day), an extra cookie point from me.

Anyway, the wool is of great quality and the price is reasonable. You get to choose between four qualities of wool: Superwash Sockwool (EUR 13 per 350m/100g hank), pure new wool 6-ply (EUR 10 per 320m/100g hank), merino (EUR 8.50 per 200m/100g hank) and "Baby yarn" (EUR 30 per 440m/100 g hank).

I ordered a hank of merino in each of the four colours. I don't exactly know what I'll make out of them yet. But I can see a lot more Kolenyas coming. :-) There are so many other yummy colourways...so make sure you go and check it out! I can't wait to get the wool!

You guys have a nice day!
Edit: Almost forgot about this
