There's a ton of moddable food on the grill, including vegetarian options, and a small salad bar. Grab a plastic plate and some cutlery and get yourself something to eat. Or pick up some booze; it's there too.

Dante was still pissed off about yesterday - maybe dealing with all the shit Cassandra had said, too. So he went to the party, adults be damned, and went straight for the booze.

Then he picked up a ridiculous amount of meat and settled in somewhere.

Salad was good. Kanan had eaten a lot of salad last week. And burgers? He was getting a pretty good idea of what Earth's idea of a burger was, and those weren't half bad, either. So he split the difference, grabbing a cheeseburger and loading it up with whatever looked like it might go well on a cheeseburger, and filling the rest of his plate up with a little bit of everything else. Less because he was hungry (even if he was), and more because he wanted to familiarize himself with as much of this stuff as he possibly could.

... Also, booze. He was grabbing himself a bottle of some manner of beer while he was there, too.

Eliot raised an eyebrow at Kanan's plate. "Interestin' combo you got goin' there. Let me know how it tastes."

"If it manages to taste any weirder than any other combination I've had around here so far, I'll let you know," Kanan chuckled, shaking his head as he looked at the plate. "It's a little obvious I'm winging it right now, isn't it?"

Terrifyingly so.

"Man, I come from a country that dares itself to put anything on a burger," Eliot said. "And I still ain't seen weirder."

He was exaggerating. But not a lot.

"It's cool you're experimenting, though. Lotsa folks refuse to do that."

"Well, literally everything here is unfamiliar to me," Kanan pointed out. "Even things that I think might be the same aren't quite right. So it's either experiment or starve, and I'm not really big on the idea of starving."

"You know, we probably do have stuff you're used to in the freezer at Luke's," Eliot said. "I just ain't gonna know what it is on sight. But if you ever get real homesick foodwise, let me know. We can go on an expedition."

Whelp. Now Kanan was doomed.

"... Nerf?" Kanan paused, and then added, "or meiloorun? Assuming meiloorun even freezes well. It's probably not quite the same if it has."

Eliot shrugged. He was guessing Kanan didn't mean foam footballs. "Sure, probably. I can check with my suppliers, too. Guy who built the freezer apparently had a thing for bein' able to stock anything anyone asked for." Also for pocket dimensions and nuclear reactors.

"That would be... actually pretty great," Kanan replied. "The food around here is fine, don't get me wrong, but something familiar would be appreciated."

And then he took a bite of his burger.

"... So. How about this beer?"

Eliot laughed. "That bad, huh?" Damn shame, doing that to a perfectly good burger. "Beer's good. I enjoy beer."

"It wasn't the worst thing I've eaten," Kanan shared, taking a swig of his beer. "It wasn't even on my top five. And it still beats Mooby's. But it wasn't quite what I had been bracing myself for."

It didn't help that Kanan still wasn't sure what he was supposed to be bracing himself for.

"The beer is good, though. Or... less disastrous, anyway."

"Fair 'nough." Eliot had eaten plenty of really terrible food in his time, too. "You got beer where you're from? Or anything similar?"

"Plenty of beer. Ales. Wines. Assorted other ways to get completely blasted off your boosters," Kanan agreed. "It's all a little different than what I've come across here, but there are similarities. I probably wouldn't be a complete lost cause if I were to have to tend bar somewhere, anyway. Not so long as I get a grand tour and a cheat-sheet before being expected to mix drinks."

"'Spect you're workin' with some different base grains," Eliot guessed. "But yeah, so long as there's the right sort of bacteria around, I guess fermentation is fermentation."
