Eliot had spent the first half of his day setting up traps around the back door and the stairs up to the loft. He was spending the second half in the diner itself, keeping an eye on the staff and looking over his plans for upping his own place's security again.

Parker had made it all the way to the stairs before she couldn't get further. That was too far. The trouble was, the snare trap was the most effective, but the stairwell was the only place with tall enough ceilings for it to work without injuring her. He was possibly going to have to rethink his whole 'humane trapping' scheme. He winced and pinched the bridge of his nose. The whole thing was starting to give him a headache. He was probably due to get his eyes checked again.

He reached up and rubbed the claw on his necklace, the action as usual making him feel a little better. When he looked up, the kitchen staff was huddled in the far doorway, peering at him and whispering to each other, just like they'd been doing all day.

"What?" Eliot demanded.

The kitchen staff froze, then started trying to push each other to the front to answer him. Eliot sighed, shook his head, and went back to his notes. If everyone around him was determined to go crazy, he was really going to have to step up his security game.
