"This is where I work," Mike confirmed. Trying not to notice the judgment. "I mean, just Friday nights. Rest of the week I'm usually on the mainland."

Brooke rolled her eyes. Not at him, but just like... she didn't even know. "He just showed up this morning, said he'd felt like taking a mini vacation from Miami," she said, carding her hand back through her hair. "When I told him I was coming here he wouldn't take no for an answer, and I couldn't leave him alone in Tampa, either. I'm sorry."
