Dite's Decadent Delights, Wednesday morning/early afternoon

Max didn't really feel up to talking to Aphrodite, but he did feel the need to check in on the store. It wasn't the sort of environment that he felt was healthy for any of his students, not with 'Dite the way she was, and he wanted to make sure none of them were there.

Imagine his surprise when he found Raven. Dressed like that.

Raven had been trying to concentrate on doing the inventory and looked up to see Max come in. So very much a person she didn't want to see.

"Professor Maximus," she stammered.

Max took a deep breath to buy a few seconds to shove the accusations 'Dite had made on Monday to the back of his mind. "Raven." Max did not sound pleased to find her here.

Raven ducked her head, her cheeks reddening again. "Lady Aphrodite is..." she began to say, but saying she wasn't there was a lie, and she couldn't bring herself to do it. "She is...occupied."

"Yes. And you shouldn't be here." Because the one followed from the other, clearly.

"I work here," Raven said, showing off her mastery of stating the obvious. "I must be here."

"No," Max shook his head. "Not while Aphrodite is like this, you mustn't."

"I already missed work yesterday," Raven said. "I do not wish to disappoint her further."

"What about disappointing me?" Max asked, eyes narrowing. "Because I know you're smart enough to know that being here right now, like this, isn't a good idea."

Raven took a step back without even realizing it. "Disappointing you was not a concern," she said without malice. It was simply a fact. "I am shielded. I am not in danger." For the moment at least.

"Not in any danger?" Max repeated. "You're wrong. Whatever happened to Aphrodite has made her dangerous. Extremely so."

Max rather pointedly looked Raven's new 'uniform' up and down. "Look at what you're wearing."

Raven's cheeks turned even pinker as she flinched at the look and crossed her arms over her chest. "It is not dangerous," she said. "Merely...cold."

"Are you saying you wanted to wear it?" Max rather doubted it.

"You're wearing that, something you don't want to be, because she told you to. And when she tells you to do something else you're not comfortable with?"

"It is not causing harm to me or anyone else," Raven protested. "If she were to wish me to do otherwise, that would be a different matter." Obeying her elders did have a limit.

"Not causing harm?" Max asked. "You can feel the emotions in this place. Are you seriously telling me that no harm is being done here?" Some of it voluntary, of course, but some of it...

Well.
