Valentine's Day Dance | Town Hall | Saturday Evening [8pm on]

As Desperation Day dances went, this was probably not the most tacky ever.  Of course given that it was Desperation Day, so tacky really went with the territory.

There was glitter, oh, was there ever glitter in a multitude of sparkly colours.  But even more so, it seemed that the decorators had taken the 'Hearts Afire' theme literally as large cut

Late night, teens milling about, repressing both his own personal issues and his faint spot of worry about Kate, Mitchell felt the dance was an excellent distraction.

Which was why he was floating near the corner, trying not to give in to the urge to smoke.

Paige had better things to do with her time than chaperone a high school dance.

Oh, who are we kidding? She absolutely did not have better things to do. Which was why she was there and wearing a simple, yet elegant dress.

It was Desperation Day and Barney thought his little pal George had done a fantastic job making it the tackiest dance Fandom had ever seen.

Barney himself was still on a high from kicking ass at laser tag and looked like a double oh in his sharp suit.

Since the punch wasn't spiked, Barney was making no effort to hide that he was slipping something from a flask into his own glass.

Jim had managed to tear himself away from Olympics coverage for long enough to put on a suit and go to the dance.

"I used to think that high school dances hadn't really changed in the past decade. Sure, the music's different and the fashions are different. But then I saw this." Jim held up a fiery heart to the camera. He had clearly pulled it off the wall. He suddenly looked terrified. "And I realized that they've gotten scarier. Make note of all the fire exits, will you? I'm pretty sure this is a warning."

As Jim walked off with a laugh, the camera swiveled around to check for the exits.

"Do you think the punch is safe?" Paige asked, foregoing the pleasantries of things like 'hello' and 'how are you'.

"Probably not," Jim said, giving the punch bowl a quick glance. "Wait, are we supposed to be watching to make sure people don't spike it? Because I haven't been at all."

"Um, probably?" Paige said. "But I haven't noticed either. We're probably also supposed to be watching to make sure none of them duck into corners and get naked."

"I don't think we'll have to worry about that," Jim said. "There are plenty of better places to get naked around here. There's no reason to risk doing that at the dance."

"Unless they're just streaking."

"Which they might do if they drink enough spiked punch," Paige pointed out.

She really hoped that didn't happen though. How awkward.

"Oh, a teenage boy doesn't need alcohol to get him to streak. Most of the time, he just has to be dared," Jim said.

For the record, he had always been the dare-er, not the dare-ee.

She was the hide under the bleachers and drink cheap booze type.

Paige shrugged. "It's not like this town is a hotbed of exciting activity."

"I don't know about that. You can take in a zombie musical act whenever you want," Jim said. "That's quality entertainment."

"It's certainly unique entertainment," Paige agreed. "Honestly, if the bar had a dance floor, I'd probably be there. I do enjoy dancing."
