Monday morning usually meant a check of the inventory, calls to the soda fountain supplier, restocking on coffee (and the inevitable Snippy Phone Exchange with that one kid at the Perk who worked the roaster), and making sure the fridge was cleaned out.
And, as of late, making sure the cream soda from either side of the border maintained an uneasy peace.
This last detail was usually saved for the end of the day, just so any failed negotiations didn't mean Lacey had to spend all day Monday with her clothes and hair all sticky. (That was more of an American cream soda issue. Ugh, high fructose corn syrup.) Unfortunately, around noontime a suspicious hissing noise from the storage closet prompted Lacey to hurry back there and check on the cream soda --
-- and not emerge after that. Apparently the two warring flavors had decided to pull her in to mediate on their conflict.
This was going to go so well.
