At some point in the evening, the prom court announcement was made.

After the court dance, the prom continued. Someone managed to spike the punch, there were still shadowy corners and the dance floor was still open to all. The chaperones were still there to keep an eye on things (and might be indulging in some spiked punch themselves).

Joan took the microphone from the DJ.

"I hope you are all having a great time," she said. Yes, she had a fake grin plastered on given the whole thing with her date showing up as a chimp.

"Our prom princesses are: Amber Atkins, Yurika Dojima, Rikku, Summer Roberts, and Jennifer Scotts. And the prom queen is: Brooke Davis!"

After waiting for the applause, she continued.

"On to our princes: Romeo Montague, John Sheppard and Dean Winchester. And the prom king is: Toby Moraitis!"

She gave the King and Queen their crowns.

"Now our court members and their dates will share a dance."

[all folks who got at least three votes made court with the top vote getters as king and queen :D]

And, as soon as Lee heard Toby's name, he was using both hands to whistle and clap loud enough to be heard over the din.

Though he was still looking dashing in his suit, Toby was weeping by the time he got his crown. "I LOVE YOU ALL! This is the best Prom I've ever had!"

It was the only Prom he'd ever had.

Where there was punch? There was Reno and a stealth bottle of Everclear. Ooooh yes.

"Tell me you did," Dōjima said, magically appearing at his elbow as she eyed the punch. "Pleaaaaaase tell me you did what I think you did, and I will love you forever."

"In a totally platonic 'I will never again mention that Reno got himself killed, then smacked in the face by a girl with a rock' type of way."

Reno glanced at her, and then managed a small smile.

"Well, duh. What kinda institution you think they're runnin' here, anyhow, if they serve punch with nothin' good in it?"

He considered a moment, and then emptied out the rest of the bottle in there. It was a big bottle. Why not?

"You got a good swing with a rock, zoto."

She sounded surprised.

Miracle of miracles, a slow song started when Chuck and Blair decided to hit the dance floor. As if Chuck needed another excuse to grab onto her.

Chuck smiled as he placed a hand on Blair's hip. "The school does do pretty well with the music, I'll give them that."

Algren was still there, and still old, and the sharp poke he felt on his ankle meant that he was going to have to make a mad break for it before the inevitable insanity could destroy the prom.

...

He did return a short while later, however, and set up a cardboard box off in the corner, where he was going to hang out until the dance was over, nursing a bottle of the punch which was concealed in a paper bag.

Deadpool eyed him after his return. And wondered if he had any spare change in his pouches for the poor hobo.
