New Year's Eve Party, A Temporarily Unabandoned Warehouse, New Year's Eve

Dec 30, 2008 23:26

Signs had been handwavily put up around town throughout the day indicating that this was the place and this was the time. New Year's Eve in Fandom, in one of the abandoned warehouses (although it had been tidied up and decorated). Showgirls carrying champagne flutes, a live band playing, and a big glowy ball hanging from the rafters with a ( Read more... )

Show up and show off what you've got! That goes for clothing or dates.

Staying home alone for New Years Eve was about as crappy as staying home alone for Christmas, so with a fresh new coat of attitude wrapped 'round him like a leather coat (he also had the leather coat) Ray strolled in through the door, came to a stop, and glanced up.

"Man, this place looks like it's gonna drop any minute," he muttered, shook his head, and continued on.

Tidied up or not, Ray was a slob, and he knew tidied-up slobishness when he saw it.

It had been months, and everything looked so different, now. Naminé glanced around at the warehouse, wondering when the island had decided to expand its size.

She straightened her dress and took the arm of her Very Important Escort.

"It's so nice to be back," she smiled.

(Ze Valentine modded with permission, woo!)

Everything looked different, including, of course, Naminé's date.

Valentine looked around the place, wide-eyed, and unable to stop grinning.

"Almost like home," he noted. "Except more..." He had to pause for a moment to come up with words. Wave his fingers about some. That usually assisted in the thinking process. "Warehouse-y."

That was totally a word.

There are people here celebrating the end of one year and the beginning of another one. Some of them are making a return to the island! Others have been around the island for a bit! Meet up with friends! Meet new people!

Completely moddable showgirls - the finest Portsmouth, New Hampshire have to offer, brought here via yacht - with champagne will be circulating throughout the evening. An unmoddable GOB will also make the rounds, possibly following the showgirls around.

Earlier Brooke had been on another planet. Yes this was still very strange to her. Especially when she had to switch into party mode right away, and oh, yes, she was in party mode.

She was looking very nice and making the rounds, and deciding that if she didn't have someone to kiss at midnight she was gonna be pissed. It was so much better to have boyfriends for this sort of thing.

Barney was working the room when he spotted Brooke and grabbed two fresh glasses of champagne from a showgirl before descending on her. "Looks like you're in need of a good time, please allow me to assist."

Did she look familiar? He wasn't sure and didn't really care, no.

Brooke made sure she had the drink in hand before saying, "Mr. Stinson, you're back."

Hungry? Thirsty for something besides just champagne? Looking for conversation with a person who is hungry or thirsty for something besides just champagne? This is the place to be!

Amber took advantage of a couple of those little weinies on a toothpick. And a few cubes of cheese. Being tipsy as she was, she didn't eat much. Wasn't hungry.

Claire filled a plate with cheese, crackers and fruit, got a beer, and lingered near the buffet to see if anything else looked good.

She was wondering how long the sushi had been out.

Cal wasn't sure what an acceptable amount of time was acceptable before going and trying to find Claire might have been, so he just hoped that when he decided to, it was acceptable and she wouldn't think that he was blowing her off or whatever because he was too busy talking to showgirls and actually drinking alcohol.

Which put him in an interesting state when he did track her down at the food tables, give her a small smile and say, "Hey."

Yes, Willow, there is a dance floor. People get up and drive your funky soul! Music is moddable.

A whiles into the night, Ray strolled onto the dance floor, not really like he owned the place, but like he belonged there anyway.

"Three steps," he told Daisy, with a slight grin, "Anything more, I'm gonna have to book you."

Grinning back, Daisy settled into position for a dance easily enough, almost naturally, which was a good sign, sure, but a terribly misleading one. She grinned back. "You're not even on duty," she reminded him. "And don't give me any small town always on duty line. That only flies if someone's trying to shoot up the place."

He took the lead, of course. That was how these things worked. It was simple, always simple, but kinda smooth, so he went with simple and smooth, trying to keep ahead of her feet if she was as bad as she said. "Not a small town guy," Ray reminded her, "But I used to have this partner who could not switch off..."

A familiar song began to play and in a burst of smoke A Magician Named G.O.B. walked onto the stage. He... actually, the clip of his typical entrance is on YouTube, so just go there and come back in thirty seconds ( ... )

Fraser gave GOB a nice round of applause. It took some bravery to do a show like that in front of students who were typically finicky.

The banana hammocks...he could have done without.
