The singing was making him crazy, and it never stopped. Didn't the creatures ever sleep? Gabriel had tried shouting, waving his arms, more shouting, throwing things and glaring, but the flying blue hedgehogs had seemed completely oblivious to his existence. Karal had Altra with him, and he was smiling, happy to be seeing Gabriel after the not fun times in Valdemar. "Gabriel, are you..." He trailed off as he came in the doors and stared at him. "Gabriel?"

Altra ignored Gabriel and went sniffing around the bottom of the altar.

Still stuck in the goo all Gabriel could do was shout. "I'm stuck!" he called out. "Intruders!"

A hedgehog that had managed to hide behind the altar from the goblins gave out a small sound when Altra approached and curled up into a flying spikey ball.

Altra batted at it - a Firecat was still a cat, after all, and some instincts ran deep - trying to prod it to come out.

Karal, eyes wide as he looked for intruders, hurried over to Gabriel. "What has happened?"

Aly looked up as she started working on another strand of the goo-stuff. "Well, goblins don't, as a rule, speak human languages," she pointed out.

Rikku nodded to Aly. "Hey there. Can I help some?"

She crouched around to watch Aly work with the knife. "Would freezing it help? Might make it more brittle." She looked at Gabriel. "You wouldn't have to fit in the freezer. I'd just cast Ice."

"Cast ice?" Gabriel asked, still keeping an eye on the knife.

Aly raised an eyebrow at Gabriel as she tried to clean off her knife on her sleeve. "I thought the hedgehogs were driving you crazy?"

"That's not the point," Gabriel replied, sounding irritated. "The world drives me crazy. The point is they barged in here and took them without asking."

"And it's possible," Karal interjected. "That they were in the church seeking sanctuary. The goblins invaded that sanctuary and took them away. They should not simply be permitted to roam the island."

"They might've been," Rikku said with a shrug. "Or maybe they're running from the goblins 'cause they're evil and the goblins are trying to take them out. I mean, just 'cause they're cute doesn't mean they're the good guys, yeah?"
