When Joan woke up and realized the power was out in the dorms and, judging by the snowfall outside, it wasn't likely to come back on any time soon, her shopping list from the other day suddenly made a whole lot more sense.
She dragged herself and the myriad shopping bags down to the lobby, where she set up a table with booklights (with extra batteries), blankets and candles (with matches).
