the roof - monday midday - 9/14

Sep 14, 2009 10:22

Fiona didn't often come up here. For one, despite an uneven temperament, she wasn't much for 'emo'ing. For another, she was usually reasonably comfortable in her room. But today, she'd come up to the roof with her phone and a couple of books and had decided to make a time of it. The wind was actually sort of refreshing and there was something ( Read more... )

Well, Didi was good at providing company and not Fiona's mom, omg. She emerged onto the roof and leaned over the edge, so far that it might almost look risky.

Tossing "Good morning," over her shoulder, she went back to studying ... whatever she was studying.

Considering that Fiona herself knew she could probably make the jump and be all right, she wasn't too worried, but she couldn't help a--

"The wind's come up a few times. You should be careful over there."

"Thanks, but I think I'll be fine," Didi said, with a quick smile. "It's just amazing to watch the water from here."

"I like it too," she admitted as she put her book down.

"Most people come up here to smoke. Um. Fiona, by the way."

Wait, she'd forgotten one part.

"That's my name, I mean. Since I haven't met you before."

Drinking his weight in alcohol last night hadn't really done anything for Alex save for giving him a brutal hangover. After awhile, he just needed some fresh air so he found his way to the roof, giving Fiona cursory glance as he arrived and reaching for his cigarettes.

"I didn't know you smoked." He'd learn soon enough that this wasn't just a smoking roof. Maybe he'd learn.

She didn't know what the question had to do with anything, but she decided to be friendly. It was easier anyway.

"I have. I do, sometimes." When she got in an odd mood. It wasn't something she did regularly, though. The complete lack of an ability to be addicted was helpful there.

"I'm not at the moment, though. I'm just up here to be up here."

"I didn't know anyone came up here to do anything else," he replied, paying more attention to trying to light his cigarette than responding to her. Priorities, people.

"How boring," he added, glancing at her again.

She shrugged.

"Isn't it more boring to do the expected?" she asked. Then she shook her head, bunching up her purse to make her seat more comfortable.

"I like the view and the wind. How're you?"

A bit of a non-sequitor, but hopefully a forgivable one.

Hayley had a bruised lip, but this didn't stop her from starting to smoke the instant she hit the roof.

She waved at everyone, before staring out over the edge of the roof. She'd gotten her butt kicked last night. Did this mean Azula wasn't going to like her anymore?

"Careful," Fiona said again.

"The winds pick up sometimes."

"Golly, you think it might blow me off the roof?" Hayley said.

She was special.

She shrugged.

"Who's to say around here? I just figured you should know."

Karla hadn't been up on the roof since the last time she and Dinah had gone flying. It was a bit brisk to be down at the beach, but she still wanted some fresh air, so up to the roof she came.

Though, really, the roof's purpose would have been better served had she come up two weeks ago, when she'd been all angsting and emo. As of now, she was in a fairly good mood. It was nice not to have classes on Mondays.

Fiona looked up at the noise and gave Karla a quick wave.

"Hey!"

Karla grinned at Fiona. "Kiss kiss!" she said, coming over to greet Fiona. "I haven't seen you in about one forever. Possibly two. I know, because I have a gift for you, from the last time I went home!"

She blinked. A gift? She shook that off.

"It's seriously been too long. How are you? What are you up to? And you were fantastic in the play."
