The Salle, Monday Morning

Jun 08, 2009 12:18

Fighting Ben still in SP last night had been somewhat cathartic. It hadn't been cathartic enough not to send Arthur back down to the salle with a sword and a mission to use it. So there he was, slicing clean but sure along the lines of a dummy with said practice sword ( Read more... )

Well, of course Zack was there. He had a large sword and pent-up frustrations to get out.

Happily. Because when was Zack ever not happy?

Honestly.

This might be a bad idea, here-and-now, but it's either here or in class, so...

"Zack? Do you want to meet up at the Perk, after classes? Or Chilly Boulder?" Dinah just barely managed not to twist her hands together worriedly. "I'm still buying."

"Either's good," Zack said, placing his sword to his back again. It wouldn't be a wise idea to swing a giant blade around and carry on a conversation at the same time, after all. "I'm not really picky. I mean, especially not if you're going to buy, and all."

He had his hands on his hips, now. Which served to keep him from wringing them together, himself.

"Chilly Boulder?" Dinah offered, smiling hesitantly. "After class." Somehow, this seemed more of a banana-split discussion than a cookie one.

Hugging Zack in front of Arthur was gonna be way Awkward. But imperative.

So there was pouncing and hugs, very tight ones. Unless he didn't want them, in which case Dinah would be over in the corner.

Hey, Zack was always good with hugs. Especially the unannounced, pouncey kind. They were squishy feel-better hugs, and he was going to return this one with a big, squeezy one of his own.

"Chilly Boulder, after class," he agreed.

Smooosh!

Smooooooosh!!

Dinah already felt better, and grinned up at Zack before stepping away. "Yay! Okay. Um. Gotta go practice." She grinned at him again, and bounced a little. "See you then!"

"See you then, Dinah!"

Zack was bouncing again already. Seriously, it was not difficult to lift this kid's spirits.

Time to pull out the sword again! Back to work!

Arthur nodded at Zack. And at his large sword.

Not that he was settling for the non-verbals today, for once. "Zack. Good morning," he said, "You look lively."

"You figure?" Zack offered Arthur a wry smile. "I can use the exercise today, I think. And any excuse to whip out my sword after a weird weekend, I'll take."

He rocked on his heels a little, and then shrugged. "How are you doing, Arthur?"

"Perfectly fine, thank you." Yeahno, Arthur. He paced towards Zack with his own sword. "Suppose you'll want to try your luck again."

"Couldn't hurt, could it?" It wasn't that Zack was cocky, really. It was more that he was just anxious and twitchy and he wanted to hear steel against steel and feel some burn in his shoulders. "I need to practise with someone while I'm waiting for ShinRa to send me on missions back home, after all."

"If it didn't hurt, we might be doing it wrong," he said, rolling his shoulders. "Or at least, one of us would be."

"The one hurting the most?" Zack shifted his weight from one foot to the other, grinning lightly. "I guess it's a good thing that I can handle a little pain, huh?"

Oh, he was totally aware that he was talking down on his own ability with a sword. Why not?

"I see you're catching on," Arthur said, smirking back at him. Hush. It made him feel better.

"I have my moments!" Zack had to take a moment to pose like an idiot.

It was a Zack thing. It was almost mandatory, really.

It made Arthur snicker, at least. He gave his sword a little twirl, which was mandatory for him, and settled into position. "We'll see about that."
