"Just so you know, it was a gremlin bite," Gert said as she made her way over to see Batman. "I don't usually steal parachutes from people on crashing planes."

But that was more an explanation than an excuse. The detention was pretty well-deserved. She got that.

"I know. I heard radio last week. And you clearly weren't yourself," Batman said. She was too eager to participate, even if it was in a completely selfish way. "That's why I'm willing to make you an offer."

"That sounds ominous," Gert said warily, crossing her arms over her chest.

"You have a choice," Batman said. "You can either serve detention this weekend or help out with class next week. It won't be anything dangerous for you."

"Do I get to know the specifics of what I'm choosing between?"

That would ruin the ~suspense~!

"You know what class with me is like," Batman said. "Try to imagine what detention with me is like."

Was that specific enough?

"I choose class," she decided. "Definitely class."

"Good choice," Batman said. "You'll get instructions before next week's class."

"I can hardly wait," Gert said. "...But I still choose class."

Just in case he was thinking of meeting her sarcasm with more punishment.
