Advanced Survivalism, Friday, Period 1

This week, Batman's class was meeting on the beach. This did not mean it was going to be a horrifying day. In fact, they were going to play a game!

"Before digital media rendered CDs almost obsolete, bored people would play a game called Desert Island Discs," Batman said with utter disdain. Why do that instead of hunting down crime? Sure, he understood it philosophically, but it wasn't a choice he would ever make. "Assuming you'll be stuck on a remote desert island with little hope of rescue, you somehow get to pick three CDs to make it onto the island with you. The thought is that you'll somehow have a limitless power source for a working CD player and you'll be able to listen to those three discs for the length of your time on the island."

"You don't get a CD player or a power source. That's ludicrous," Batman said before pulling a short bindle of blank CDs from his belt. "All you do get are these three CDs and the piles of driftwood you'll see further down the beach. You'll note that I'm actually being generous by making sure it was all dry."

Yep. That's generous.

"Because it's on you to figure out how to accomplish three goals with nothing but those CDs and whatever natural things you find here. First, you have to construct a shelter. Second, you have to build a fire. Third, you have to dig a waste pit." You knew what he meant. And no, he shouldn't have to say this next part, but he wanted to make it clear that there was an end point here. "Do NOT use the waste pit. Work alone or in groups and use your CDs wisely."

"If you need help doing any of those things, I'll show each person or group how to do one of them. If you have powers, you can use them, but you must use them in conjunction with the CDs."

"And if any of you received detention from me last week, see me after class. We have things to discuss."
