Detention, Depths of the Castle, Thursday

Jul 26, 2012 01:59

Another beautiful day had begun in Fandom, not that anyone in detention would have noticed. The lack of sunlight, the pleasant sound of Umbridge's voice, and the slightly stale smell of breakfast were all important aspects to making every day in detention routine! Surely everyone knew that surprises were no fun ( Read more... )

Enjoy Your Breakfast [07/26] cracking_wonder July 26 2012, 06:00:11 UTC
It might not be considered food by any actual chefs, but it was warm and you were lucky to have it.

Jaye was spending a lot of time frowning at her breakfast. Why couldn't they have what they had yesterday? That'd been good, at least.

(No, it hadn't.)

Stannis was wondering if he was actually starting to enjoy the food here, or if that was all in his head.

Somehow, he thought it could be much worse, after all.

Yeah, even Kate (who had pretty low food standards) wasn't eating this. She wouldn't feed it to her non-existent dog.

She was however considering the merits of flicking it at one or other of her fellow prisoners.

Assuming they're not already talking to themselves or something.

Dinah was not talking to herself, or singing. She was very quietly reciting Henry V, trying to remember all the speeches. A Midnight's Summer Dream would be next.

That's what she did on Thursdays. It was the routine. It kept her rational and occupied, and that was half the battle.

[Again, SP, although I should be on a bit earlier tonight.]

Jonothon spent his afternoon on his feet, and pacing, today. There was an... an itch in the back of his head, pieces of a puzzle slowly being fitted back into place and some of those pieces were bits of his own broken self.

He hadn't realized until the other day just how fragmented he'd let himself become over the years. But now, with Liara's help, he was scrounging around the edges of his self for pieces that he'd never allowed into the equation, and besides that low, seething anger that had been keeping him tethered in sanity, there was something else, too.

Oh... was that was confidence felt like?

"How are you doing?" Liara asked as she passed by Jono on one of her little rounds.

He was by far and away the easiest human to pick out. The fire made him stand out.

Dinah was really starting to wonder if Raven wasn't going to attempt to smash her down again this week. Or anyone else. Fine by her, except for how watching other people be tortured was a torture all its own.

This time of day, long routine, was still not one of Jonothon's favourites. But he continued to survive it, only slipping occasionally. He hadn't been singled out yesterday, and the day before had ended on something of a positive note. Well, positive comparatively.

He was standing to face any visitors head-on today, with his arms crossed over his chest and a bored expression on what was left of his face.

Do your worst.

Stark was still pacing when the visitors started arriving. Pacing and now humming softly and almost tunelessly. No crouching today. He couldn't sit still long enough to bother trying to make himself a smaller target. At least he was a moving one.

Again, warm food twice in one day? So not going to happen.

Dinah wasn't eating. Couldn't. She stood slumped against one wall, staring at Bobby and Sookie in their little ice chamber.

She'd look around for someone else to help, or talk to, in a minute. Really.

Sam was completely ignoring his dinner, and just about everything else. He'd been curled up ever since Karla left, unsure of how to feel.

Dinah finally went over to him, and poked him gently in the side. "Hey. You need to eat." Do as she says, not as she does, Sam.

Aaaand as of this, Sookie's dead. The fight was mostly telepathic (and she basically died of an aneurysm/brain strain/handwavey magic thing that looks aneurysm-like but I'm not a doctor), though if you wanted to be able to see it Sookie would have extended the link to everyone, at least in little flashes. If you don't want to have seen it, also fine! But yes, if you want to react because, you know, SOMEONE JUST DIED IN DETENTION, I figured I'd give the option omg.

...I'm going to go curl up with a cat now.
