River looked at the eggs. At least they weren't noisy. But as she had explined to Blair, babies weren't high on her list of things she wanted. That included metaphorical babies in the shape of eggs.

Jack stared at the eggs for quite some time.

The staring might have been interrupted by several glances at Sam. He also might have mouthed, "It's just an egg," in her general direction.
