Oh, fuck them.

I don't care what you think about Gwen, or Gwen and Rhys, that moment said something BIG about Jack, and you can't bitch about it without doings omething unpleasant to Jack's characterization.

It was important to HIM.

I was loving Jack/Ianto in this episode for exactly that reason. Okay, sure, Jack didn't exactly come back to him and settle down and get monogamous. There was Jack/John and Jack/Gwen and you know what? That MAKES IT POSSIBLE for me to buy into Jack/Ianto and like it. Because it works for Jack that way.

And oh, god yes with Gwen. I was much happier this time with Gwen. like I'm really starting to like her and feel better with her, and her relationship with Jack absolutely damn well DOES make sense and Jack NEEDS that relationship to be balanced. It's not about the ship, it's that she provides something for him the others don't.

Just like they all each give him/the team something. That's what made this season WORK. Everyone has a role, everyone is important, and they all fit together so beautuflly.

This intimacy, this level of connection, I can buy into in a way that I couldn't with the 'twu wuv always' thing.

YES.

And I can so totally see him saying it to all of them ("For all of you") And you know, honestly? I think I'll be able to flow with just about anything they toss us from here. I *hope* they don't decide to make Jack 'just a guy' with normal morals/sexuality/wants to settle down with kids.

But. After that five years thing, even ina time loop, if it's handled, I might not even go batshit with *that*

And one of those is that her relationship with Jack runs deeper than anyt category we care to try to shove it into, and comparing it with what he may or may not have with Ianto does all three characters an injustice.

That made more sense in my head.

It makes perfect sense. You know those Greek words for love - eros, phillia and agape? It's a very complicated combination of all three of them that Jack feels for all of his team.

I definitely, definitely agree that it's a tangled up mix of stuff and sorts of love he's got going on for all of them. I am in no way going to try to pin it down, or assume equal mixes of all three (or even presence of all three) for all of them, but yeah. He loves his team, I think, is pretty safe to say.
