Though she heard him, Ami didn't slow her pace. She knew that Scott's longer legs would make it fairly easy for him to overtake her. Ami hugged herself and her body trembled with unexpressed emotions, a swirling torrent that she couldn't even begin to put into words. As a last thought, she brought up her shields, saving Scott, Damon and Jon from the emotional torrent.
Ami didn't stop until she reached her and Scott's teepee. Crawling inside, she pulled her knees to her chest and rested her forehead on them. Her body rocked and trembled with silent, dry sobs.
