He woke up with a start. Not something he usually did anymore. Just happened. Made him sit up and immediately smack his head on something real solid. Hurt like a real somabitch.
“Shu ma nyaow” he lay back down and his hand went to his

She was here.
She sat up and looked around, there were a few more gathered here with her, three men and two women, from the look of it. Whatever was taking place, she was obviously coming into the middle of it. An A-B conversation her sister would have told her, so 'C' your way out of it, Chelsea the memory of her sister's voice made her smile a little.
She wondered just where in the universe she was, and what had happened to the Avenger and its crew, its Captain ( ... )

It was enough to throw him off her noticin his physique. At six four he was used to bein intimidatin' and workin out a lot. He even knew what physique meant. But her carpin on his intelligence, huh. Crap shots. He was smart enough to stay alive.
"Those who survived? So you're sayin these experiments make ya dead, or wish ya were." He was gonna let the whole Earth bit slide for now. Maybe that was part of the experiments.
Then another woman joined in. How many people were there under that sculpture anyhow?
"Ifn' your security, who's in charge? How'd the Alliance pull this one off?"

Turning to look towards the treeline, she realised that it was getting later in the afternoon. If this lot were going to get shelter for the night, she'd have to move swiftly to make sure they were near enough to the fire. IF she decided they could come back to the camp.
She turned back to them. "My name is Miho Ryudo and I'm one of several people who patrol the edge of our territory, making sure we're not in danger from other inhabitants of this island. You're all lucky I found you first."
Alright, so maybe luck didn't have a hand at all. She'd known they'd be there... but there was no reason to tip her hand at all.
"So, who are you all?"

Her attention turned to the woman who was talking, she didn't recognize her either. Her hand reached to her chest where her communicator should have been attached, and she found nothing. She looked around at the others gathered and saw equal looks of confusion on their faces. She had a plethora of questions and desperately wanted to find someone with answers.
"I'm Lieutenant Commander Chelsea LaShay, communications officer" she said, taking a step forward, her back straight and her hands clasped behind her back. She was still a UFA officer, no matter where or when she was, and she would act like one. "I'm station aboard the UFA Avenger commanded by Captain Stetson. Can you please tell me exactly where ... here ... is?"

Wiping the grit from his gloves, Remy wandered the immediate area, looking, and taking things in. Miho. Chelsea... and with those two introductions, it wasn't hard to identify the others. His hint of a smile still played upon his lips as he finally finished his 'circuit' of the small, cleared area.
He, too, hadn't heard of the Alliance, and a brow rose in askance. The telepath knew, however, that a full answer was probably not going to be forthcoming, so instead, he directed his attention to Miho.
"Remy White. I'm a commercial telepath for PsiCorps. I should be on Io right now to negotiate a high level contract." There.
The others weren't from his time, or his location, and he added, "I don't want to know or care what any of you are thinking. Beyond that, there are laws against it." Remy sighed, and ran another set of fingers through his hair.
"So... please... take us all out of suspense and tell us where 'here' is, and who would possibly have security details?"

Lieutenant Commander Chelsea LaShay was a welcome addition. Most soldiers liked rules and structure. She could be easily played if necessary.
White's reminder of his psionics sent a chill up Joon's spine. He was rumored to be one of the best. She didn't believe his line about not reading their minds. If she were telepathic she'd have a field day learning people's secrets. Who could resist the temptation?
Joon stayed near Miho as she introduced herself. "I-I'm Joon Ri. Geneticist. Work at Cal Tech." She eyed the group, the weird mushroom, and the surrounding jungle with trepidation. "I was in my apartment and woke up here. Never been in a jungle before. Please, take me with you!"

His dark eyes skittered from one subject to the next, assigning them personal names in his head to keep them separate. He needed some sort of system, especially if he had no intention of talking to any of them. Better that way. Safer. They couldn't pry any information out of him if he didn't speak.

Interestingly not-right-in-the-head girl knew Neanderthal. And judging from Crazy's reaction to White, the girl was either psychic or recognized White's uniform. (A possibly psychic lunatic. Fantastic.)
Not knowing what else to do, Joon kept quiet and waited for someone to take her to the subjects' camp. The sooner she collected her samples, the sooner she could get back to her comfortable, climate-controlled home.

The look of fear, while it would have been a little more appropriate in his blacks, only served to both irritate him and intrigue him, all at the same time. As a result, the man remained cool, reserved, and offered the girl the same, hint of a smile that never seemed to make it to his eyes.
The fact that the girl knew the man made for a small difficulty, but nothing that couldn't be surpassed. In fact, the more he listened to the discussion, while there was that familiarity, there wasn't an understanding per se.
Looking at Danny, then Joon, now that the girl and Jayne had their conversation, the telepath returned his attention to Miho, his hand gesturing towards the jungle.
Oh, Danny... you are so wrong... You announce it even as you try to hide. Fear... fear makes it so ( ... )

Wouldn't ever even thought it more'n a year ago.
"This is Earth-That-Was, man with a girl's name. You have to join a new crew to get by. But the accomidations and food will be satisfactory." River stood just outside his personal space. Made him uncomfortable.
"What I tell you bout that? I got man parts." He made sure he cupped himself crudely, just because he knew she'd scrunch her face just like that.
Jayne looked past the pest and at Miho. "Might as well get movin, meet the neighbors, an all."
