GetUp! -- a grassroots organisation that can be very annoying but often has good ideas and employs a couple of kid1's friends (see the bids spread across the pages) -- has started a project:

OzFloodHelp.org is trying to provide a safe and easy way to find or offer temporary
accommodation for Australians affected by floods.
