I am breaking my livejournal silence for an important public service announcement.
Yesterday, after being in a post-SAT delirium, I learned that the Nalgene company not only condones animal testing, but manufactures products(such as the one depicted below) to be used in laboratories.
Being a long-term advocate for animal rights and following a vegan diet, I am overwhelmed with feelings of betrayal. I carry my Nalgene with me everyday, refilling it several times, and I was constantly was thankful for such a marvelous invention, until I learned about this information.
Hundreds of thousands of high school and college students have Nalgene bottles, especially in this region of the country. (I personally have had four, though I have lost one.) As many of the students who purchase Nalgenes are concnerned about the environent and the animals we share it with, I find this to be an even greater crime. The target audience would be apalled if they knew that they were supporting a company which still supports animal testing!
So that is what I intend to do! Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to apall and to expose. I will shortly be contacting the president of the Nalgene company to let him know of my discontent with his practices and boycott of his products until they change their ways. However, in order to make the kind of impact I would like to, I need your help! I will shortly be circulating a petition. If you own a Nalgene bottle, affix it with this wonderful sticker:
If you don't, please do not buy one. Spread the word! Let's rake some muck!
