*gasps* *cannot believe it* You liked The Girl in Question? I think you're the first one to tell me she does. Seriously. All the people I've talked to, including me, absolutely hate it. Apart from the Andrew parts. I love the Andrew parts. Which I credit Drew for, since he's the one they gave Damaged to.Ok, so, why the hate, you'll ask. Because... they made Spike and Angel completely ridiculous, Buffy was nothing more than a blonde wig, even the flashbacks did not fit with what we knew of those two and all. For me, it was just too... burlesque or something. The humour didn't work for me at all. I mean, I love Drew, but blind loyalty ain't my thing ( ... )

Had a thought yesterday (yeah, it happens sometimes): did you also try to check with the companies releasing video games in France? It's not exactly subtitling or whatever, but there's some games for which there is a lot of dialog lines to translate...

And I found out yesterday that Icks knows a guy who do some subtitling (he was actually credited for "Broken Flowers"), so I tried to push that door, but it seems locked. Too bad...

No, I haven't tried out. I'll see if I really can't find anything... But they probably go to translation companies for that kinda stuff anyway, don't they? Anyway, I'll see. Thanks for the tip.

Maybe. Must be specialized companies, though, because sometimes the dialogs are in fact references to other games/films/series/books, so they need people likely to spot them. Unless they are given the whole package, with a two tons book explaining what each dialog line was hinting at or referencing to. ;-)

Well, it was a bit frustrating. I had intended to ask him anyway, considering he's likely to know that kind of people. And suddenly he was all "You see the name of the guy they credited for the subtitles? I was chatting with him yesterday at lunch". Argh. ;-)
