Joyeux anniversaire,
fargo_01!
J'espère que tu as passé une bonne journée. 82 powaaa! (En espérant que je ne me plante pas dans l'année... ;) ) Et Jo vient de me dire qu'en fait tu étais du 30 - c'est la faute du calendrier de BR si je suis en retard!!
Other than that,
about this weekend: wicked. Brilliant. Absolutely excellent. Some very nice, very interesting conversations with bright people who give a damn (more than so, really) about TV shows. Henri Larski's conference on the link between cinema and TV shows was particularly interesting, as well as hearing what being the buyer of foreign TV shows for Canal Jimmy and Canal + was like. The picture that was drawn of the landscape of French TV shows was quite dreary, as expected, with very little hope for anything good and original to develop.
Our panel on Buffy went well, with no big awkward blanks and a fairly responsive audience. I felt as if I were quite the bimbo when Antoine, Denis and Ronan went so in depth, but from what feedback we later had, our interventions were much appreciated as well... and of course that's leading to that article for Martin's Mirois, so picture me bloody delighted.
Firefly in French was a true catastrophe. The dubbers were poorly cast, the translators did not understand a thing about the TV show, the Chinese was massacred... Blah. Joan of Arcadia is a good try, but I'm not convinced. As for Nip/Tuck, I'm a fan! I don't suppose that will surprise anyone.
Had my landlady on the phone, v. nice. No internet connection though. Got my claddagh ring back at last! It had been too long. Watched two episodes of Boomtown, amazing, one of MI-5 (not as good as I expected, will see how it develops), and four of The Jury (thanks again,
yodah!), with a very funny Adam Busch and a whole lot of great actors. It's nothing earth-shattering, but it's quite well-written and I'm enjoying it immensely (too bad it's already got cancelled).
