MTV Video Music Awards 2004[Party Schedule 4 Miami]
First Shaq, now MTV -- big names are descending upon Miami this year. For the first time in the show's history, MTV's Video Music Awards will not be staged in New York or Los Angeles, instead moving to our very own American Airlines Arena. It's gonna be hot, humid and star-studded. Following its tradition of the untraditional, expect celebrities arriving to the awards show by boat, lavish musical production numbers, offbeat acceptance speeches and gonzo publicity stunts.
Tickets: MTV plans to release more than 2,000 tickets for sale to the general public in the $50-$100 price range. Tickets will also be available through local Miami radio and cable promotions. Details TBA.
Date: August 29, 2004 at 8 p.m. Since it's a live TV show, doors open at 5:30pm and close promptly at 7:30pm.

Parking: The parking plan will be finalized August 15.

Fan Casting Call: Visit seatfiller.com to sign up to be a part of the show. MTV is also looking for fans ages 18-24 to be floating on the bay in their own private boats. If you own or have access to a boat or yacht please send a picture of yourself and the boat along with info on who would be on it plus a brief description of the size of the boat to vmaboats@mtvstaff.com. Please be aware that proof of insurance and attendance at pre-event logistic & safety meeting will be required. MTV's only interested in seaworthy yachts/boats between 19' and 40' long. Compensation will not be included for this event.
Other Events: MTV is hosting a series of "VMA Week" activities from August 23-28. Watch out for a 30 foot tall VMA Moonman appearing at MTV events around the city. Events include:
• Miami Club Series -- Giveaways, including VMA tickets, throughout the week at local clubs (names TBA).
• VMA Kick Off Concert (Saturday, Aug. 21) -- Kick-off concert featuring local and other MTV artists at Margaret Pace Park. Details TBA.
• VMA Take Over (Thursday, Aug. 26) -- Free outdoor event featuring national and local DJs in Coconut Grove. Details TBA.
• VMA Block Party (Friday, Aug. /27 and Saturday, Aug. 28) -- The two-day event on Club Row in Downtown Miami will consist of live performances on an outdoor stage from various artists and DJs. This is an all ages ticketed event.
• MTV2/LIFEbeat Concert (Saturday, Aug. 28) -- MTV2 and LIFEbeat host a benefit concert at Crobar in South Beach to support HIV/AIDS education and prevention.
