Randall decides begin repairing his car and tells that group that he’s available should an emergency occur. Drake is waiting to be released from the hospital after being treated for the gunshot wounds he received in his fight with Anton Lokosic’s thugs. His “girlfriend” Taylor decides to call Ginger while she waits for him to be released. She calls Ginger and fills her in on everything that occurred at Randal’s house.
When Drake is released from the hospital Taylor calls Ginger to come and pick them up. The three of them go to local pub, the Firkin Strumpet, to discuss the events of the past several days. They discuss fact that to this point they suspect that Jennifer Christopher’s murder has been made to look like a suicide, that Katherine Christopher is under the influence of some kind of mind magic, that it seems that the Fae are somehow involved and that Anton Lokosic, a White Court Vampire, has just attempted to have the group killed.
Once all the facts are on the table the group goes into research and brainstorming mode. They pool their knowledge of White Court, Vampires that feed of emotion rather than blood, discussing the strengths and weaknesses of White Court Vampires. They know that White Court Vampires feed off emotion, they know that while they have supernatural physical capabilities they aren’t as powerful as the vampires of the other two courts and that these vampires can operate during the day. They also know that there three major branches - the Raith family (feeding off Lust), the Malovora family (feeding off Fear) and the Skavis family (feeding off pain and despair). They figure that Anton Lokosic must be connected to either the Malovora or Skavis families since the Raith family does not have much of a presence in Hamilton.
The group suspects that the Fae are connected with Jennifer Christopher’s death. Ginger and Taylor don’t know much about the Fae so Drake goes into lecture mode. Drake explains what he knows about the Fae which isn’t much considering…He tells that that they should never enter into the deals with the Fae since they’d likely come out ahead. He also tells that that should they ever going into the Fae controlled parts of the Nevernever that they should avoid eating or drinking anything. One thing that Drake forgot to tell them is that they should never tell the Fae their true name…
The group decides to venture into the Nevernever to see if they can gleam any further information regarding Jennifer’s death. Drake performs a ritual to open a portal to the Nevernever. They step into an emerald green field with rolling hills and flowers blooming. Drake, Taylor and Ginger see off in the distance an incredible beautiful redheaded women sitting on a blanket with a picnic spread out all around her. The woman looks at them and beckons them to come forth to talk to them.
The woman introduces herself as Anne and asks each member of the group their name. Ginger slips and gives the redheaded women her true name. Anne takes this as a good sign and offers to become Ginger’s fairy godmother. Drake is alarmed by this offer and goes his best to convince Ginger that she DOES NOT want to accept the offer. Ginger complains claiming that it would be cool to have a fairy godmother but Drake insists and eventually Anne’s offer is refused.
Eventually the group gets down to asking the redheaded faerie for information. Anne doesn’t give up the information easier and the information she does give up isn’t straight forward. The woman calling herself Anne eventually reveals that Anton Lokosic negotiated with her for rights to travel through her piece of the Nevernever. They also find out that he did not bring Jennifer through the Nevernever as they suspected. They aren’t able to get anything else out of the fairy before a blood rain starts to fall.
Ginger decides to pay a visit to Jennifer’s apartment. When she arrives there she is greeted by Jennifer’s roommate Liz. Liz looks like a punk in every sense of the word. She welcomes Ginger into the apartment where they discuss Jennifer’s death. Liz mentions that Jennifer had recently become infatuated with a guy named Anton Lokosic but despite that she had been growing more and more depressed. Ginger checks out Jennifer’s room and given all the other facts surrounding the death discovers the room of what could be a very disturbed woman. The girl’s room was filled with many things that indicated her world was full of pain, depression and darkness.
